• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

My son, keep my words and store up my commands within you.
Keep my commands and you will live; guard my teachings as the apple of your eye.
Bind them on your fingers; write them on the tablet of your heart.
Say to wisdom, "You are my sister," and call understanding your kinsman;

~ Proverbs 14:2 ~
He whose walk is upright fears the LORD, but he whose ways are devious despises him.

As we walk according to God's will, His light shines in and through us; there is nothing to fear or hide. But as the Word says, 'Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that his deeds will be exposed.'

I love how scripture can be more clearly explained with even more scripture. :clap: Praise Him for His wisdom and love toward us.

"Whoever corrects a mocker invites insult; whoever rebukes a wicked man incurs abuse.

Do not rebuke a mocker or he will hate you; rebuke a wise man and he will love you.

Instruct a wise man and he will be wiser still; teach a righteous man and he will add to his learning.

:angel:

"The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.

For through me your days will be many, and years will be added to your life.

If you are wise, your wisdom will reward you; if you are a mocker, you alone will suffer."

~ Proverbs 28:13 ~
He who conceals his sins does not prosper,
but whoever confesses and renounces them finds mercy.

Praise God for his unending love and kindness. He continually offers repentant hearts forgiveness - "A bruised reed he will not break, and a smoldering wick he will not snuff out." :bow:

Proverbs 10:12

Hatred stirreth up strifes, but love covereth all sins.

I think this deals with when someone does us wrong. What is our response supposed to be? If we respond from our own inclinations, strife is inevitable. If we respond as Jesus commanded in the Sermon on the Mount, "turn the other cheek...bless those who curse you," etc., we are covering sin. Or put another way, forgiving as we have been forgiven. Striving with our brothers is a sure sign of hatred in our hearts. Forgiveness is a sure sign of love in our hearts.

I agree. And showing others God's forgiveness would be another sign. I know this is about the Book of Proverbs but I did find these cross reference. Your words made me think of these verses.

Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.

I read those verses last night as I was going to bed! I am glad you shared them.

Proverbs 4:20-23,

'My son, pay attention to what I say; listen closely to my words. Do not let them out of your sight, keep them within your heart; for they are life to those who find them and health to a man's whole body. Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life.'
