Ahead of a crucial vote on Friday, the bishops of Ireland have raised grave concerns about proposed changes to the country’s constitution, warning these would abolish “all reference to motherhood” and diminish the “unique importance of the relationship between marriage and family.”

On International Women’s Day, March 8, voters in the country of more than 5 million people will head to the polls to cast their ballot in twin referendums proposing historic changes to the Constitution of Ireland.

The first referendum pertains to the family and would amend Article 41.1 by introducing “other durable relationships” alongside marriage as the foundation of the family.

The second referendum would delete a wording on women and motherhood in Article 41.2, where the state recognizes “that by her life within the home, woman gives to the state a support without which the common good cannot be achieved.” Therefore, the state shall “endeavor to ensure that mothers shall not be obliged by economic necessity to engage in labor to the neglect of their duties in the home.”

This Referendum is simply a Feminist cause* to remove the part of the Constitution they interpret as saying 'a woman's place is in the home'**. The Const. doesn't say this; the feminists know it doesn't say this but they have been trying for a long time to get the offensive words removed.
Between 5-8yrs ago, all the Irish Feminist groups, through interviews and articles, openly stated that they lent their endorsement to this political Party now in charge, in return for a Referendum on this part of the Constitution. They wanted the Ref. held years ago but the Govt. told them to wait, as the Irish had held recent Referenda and were afraid of voting fatigue.

*Referenda must be held on a Friday, in Ireland. Is it coincidence that this date is also Intl. Women's day?

** The offensive part of the Constitution
"In particular, the State recognises that by her life within the home, woman gives to the State a support without which the common good cannot be achieved.
The State shall, therefore, endeavour to ensure that mothers shall not be obliged by economic necessity to engage in labour to the neglect of their duties in the home."

Western culture continues to crash.

It will be replaced with.....something, once it's gone. Can't say what it might be, but I'm fairly certain that whether it's monolithic Communism, Islamic Shar'ia, or atheistic anarchy, it will assuredly put the world into a new dark age that may last for many centuries before man works his way back up out of the mud again. :(

The worst part is, the West is not going to topple from a destructive outside force---the West is committing suicide. Or, more accurately, the West is a dope addict, and the crap that it keeps putting into its system is going to eventually kill it, just as sure as the sun will go down.
