Saddam, for obvious reason, has ceased to be in the running for "greatest evil of all time".

So all the theories have to move on to the new contender, the USA's "big evil of the month"...Iran.

Will Persia help to rebuild Babylon??

If we take scripture seriously, it says Babylon will attack Israel. Babylon is modern day Iraq.

I think (IMHO) that the American military planners are too smart for us all. They knew Saudi Arabia was to blame for 9/11, plus they know Saudi Arabia encourages and funds Wahabbism (extreme Islam) in Western countries.

They know they can't or won't attack Saudi, but what better way to make Saudi submit to the Americans, than by invading Iraq and removing the Sunni MINORITY regime, and replacing with a Shiite MAJORITY regime, backed by Iran. Now they have Iranian backed insurgencies happening in Iraq, Lebanon ... just breathing down their necks. Of course they will curtail to demands of America now.

You can just see or feel the Sunni Muslim world twitch in their feet over this, so in a way it almost blackmails them i.e. they are wary of their Muslim brothers who are Shiites. Sunnis don't even see them as true Muslims. I am led to believe by Sunni Muslims that they hate each other.

So when it says Babylon will attack, I think it means what it says, as we have a reclaim of Iraq, as part of Iran with a Shiite majority, going on this very minute.

But we can rest assure that Jesus Christ has everything in control. And when all these things start to happen, we can look up for our redemption draws nigh. Hallelujah.

Iran and Iraq have been at war before for 8 years, it was a stalemate.

I don't understand your apples and oranges analogy, as most Iraqi's are Shiites and most Iranians are Shiites. That's apples compared with apples. Please explain what inference you are trying to let me know. Thanks.

Excellent point. Babylon was not Persian (nor was it Arab); it was pagan, not Muslim.

Frankly, the description of Babylon in Revelation sounds a lot more like materialistic western Capitalism, with its libertine lifestyle, than Islam:

Revelation 18:9-24 (ESV)
9 And the kings of the earth, who committed sexual immorality and lived in luxury with her, will weep and wail over her when they see the smoke of her burning.

Daniel I agree, everyone else you're looking on the wrong continent. The United States is Babylon, and Iran is going to provide the holy fire which burns it in an hour. My brothers we are on the eve of the Battle of Armageddon, prepare to depart for Israel, for once Babylon burns in the holy flame of the wrath of God it will be time to prove our faith by crushing the Beast in battle
