Funny you should ask... I was just going to ask if we could do a State Fair get-together again. This is likely to be my last summer in the midwest - I'd like to see you guys before I leave.

I'll have the two weeks off again, so I'll be able to do it. Did you get a job at another location yet?

Nope - I've made the first cut on a couple of the positions, and I've gotten turned down from a couple. I'm still in the dark about the rest (10+) of them.

Better you than me!
;)

Taylor has her front two teeth, and her back teeth are beginning to come in. She chews on whatever she can find. She'll even chew on broccoli. :D

Oh shoot, he's been at the different store for over a year now. It was kind of a promotion because it was a store that was going to relocate across the street, and that's considered a new store opening, which is coveted by the managers. Him and the store manager are the same age and have the same philosophy - they have now built it up to the busiest non-24 hour store in the district. If there wasn't a stupid pharmacist shortage, it would be 24 hours by now. The shortage is so bad that we get daily calls from someone wanting him to work - not cause he's anything special, but because he's a warm body with a license - if it's not his own company, it's a recruiter. Stores are having to close their pharmacies it's so bad, and it's projected to continue into the next decade as the baby boomers are getting older. Kimmy's former youth group kid in pharmacy school made a very wise decision to get into that.

The sucky thing is at his last meeting, his boss told him that they might want to put him into another store to fix some problems. He really likes it where he is now, and doesn't want to transfer, but if he were to move up in the company, being a fixer of problems is a good reputation to have. I don't think he needs to move up in the company, and I don't think he does either. He would have to wear a suit every day and I just can't picture that. ;)

Can't they make the state fair in a cooler month, like June? LOL! Might be able too. I took a few days off this week to work on the house (painting, etc.), I'm taking a few days off in June to go with Adam to a pharmacy convention in Kansas City, then a few days off in July to see my neice dance in a competition in Gatlanburg. I should still have some days left, we'll see.

How's work for you? Still at a desk job, any chance of going back to the control room?

It sounds like things have really been going his way. :) The company wouldn't promote Adam if he didn't want to be promoted, right?

Wouldn't that be nice! I'd vote for that option.

Where's Gatlanburg?

It's going. :) Yes, I am still at a desk job. It's been longer than I would've thought that it would be to get my medical back. At this point I have no desire to go back to being an active controller. The meds that I've been on have screwed up my head so much, that I have a difficult time thinking, and making sense of normal everyday things.

Right now I've bid out on at least 15 positions throughout the US (New York - California). I've got nibbles on two of them, got a firm "no" on two of them, and am in the dark with the rest. In these positions I would still be considered a controller, but wouldn't be handling aircraft - I would be doing administrative work.

Going into administrative work at another facility would leave the door open for me to go back to controlling if I wanted to in the future, but I would not be obligated to.

Keep your fingers crossed. :)
