  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hi All.

Anyone remember this good Aussie rock band?

I used to be a big fan of inxs in my teenage years. I've just recently pulled out some of those old dusty CD's to re-listen to their past hits, Mostly the kick album. My favorites of them are:

"I need you tonight"
"Never tear us apart"
"Mediate"
"Kiss the dirt"

Does anyone know if they have found a singer for the band? Not that anyone could replace Michael Hutchence. I know they have been touring with of John Stevens but I don't know if thats permanent.

I was never a big INXS fan in their heyday, but I do have some very fond memories of them; they were the first "real concert" I attended, a free performance at the Republique in Paris, Summer Solstice 1993. They did have some great songs...

Yeah...I read sometime ago that Michael and Bono were good friends. Unfortunately I missed his bio that was on tv. I just did a search for any news on Inxs and found that the band (looking for a singer) are holding auditions in six continents as part of a reality TV series called "INXS Rock Star" that will be broadcast in the US in July. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/entertainment/4245603.stmBut I fully agree with your dad that Michael will never be replaced, even if they do find a singer they are comfortable with. It will not be the same without Hutch. :(

I don't know the answer to your question, but I wanted to say that I really like "Slide Away" that Bono "finished" after Hutchence's death. The lyrics he added are very poignant in light of the suicide.
Agreed, powerful lyrics. Reminds me of "Stuck in a Moment You Can't Get Out Of" which Bono wrote on the topic of suicide, that when they were good friends and they talked about suicide and kind of promised each other not to kill themselves (from what I've heard).

I was a fan of Inxs before I found U2. I was very young about (thirteen or fourteen) when I got the kick LP, I played it all the time ^_^
And in the early nineties got some more albums such as "Shabooh Shoobah" "X" and "Live baby Live" on video. I really like the live version of "Wild life" it rocks! :)
