• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Who here struggles with intrusive thoughts and is on the spectrum? Any advice is welcomed.

I used to struggle with these thoughts during a personal time of darkness that started on Dec 6, 2014, a day after visiting a prostitute for both the first and last time. While we did not do it, I believe a demonic entity from her, targeted me and wrecked havoc on my spirit, soul and mind and crippled me over the course of that month of hell. After both my mother and I prayed these demons away and after some time elapsed, I was gradually restored, and now I'm totally healed. At the end of the day, demons who cause these thoughts need to be cast out. I still think the devil is out to get me today, by trying to crease situations and temptations in order to try and flood me with other evil spirits by tempting me into sin. However, by the grace of God I have been successful so far in avoiding sin that I think I'll be fine with any intrusive thoughts. If I look at porn then I'm creating scenarios that would lead to intrusive thoughts (probably not aware of it if I do that though or I probably wouldn't do that in the first place0.

I used to.

I learned to overcome it by allowing them to exist. It is difficult to do at first, but I figured out that your resistance is the reason they exist. Rupert Spira made a great analogy, "See thoughts and feelings like a train that enters a station and then leaves. Be like the station, not like a passenger." You can't always filter what goes through your mind. Much of it is from your subconsciousness. Carl Jung's integration of the shadow is what helped me better understand this.

May I point you to the free web site 25 tips for successfully treating your OCD.
You may not have OCD, but point 4 deals with intrusive thoughts.
The advice is to just to acknowledge them and to move on, to just say or think. " Yes that is right. " and move on.

Intrusive thoughts are not an artifact of autism, but OCD is a common co-morbid condition.
The best thing that you can do is
  1. see psychiatrist for it &
  2. visit a church that is good at dealing with mental illnesses.
