• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Okay guys I have dealt with thoughts and guilt, fear and anxiety. Now I'm dealing with intrusive images that are very disturbing. I would call them HOCD, Harm O because they pop up into my head as dreams I had the night before and it was a nightmare. I have never dealt with intrusive images before so can someone pls say this is OCD.

I would say that whatever they are, they are not you. They are intrusive, so that means that they can not be apart of your will. I have intrusive thoughts also, I know that it is OCD and that its roots are demonic, just learn to ignore these thoughts the best you can and remember that they are not apart of your will and that if you had the power you would get rid of them for good.

You can not help the thoughts that come into your mind, but you can help what you dwell on, I know it is hard to ignore these horrible thoughts because the devil will try and tell you that you wanted them, but we must remember that we have the mind of Christ and His mind would never have thoughts like these, so we must not let them get to us, only when you side with the thoughts and desires do they become yours.

Even then it is not the new new man that is sinning but the old you who has been crucified with the Lord, we must consider this a accomplished fact that the sinful man has been put to death, when we do this we will come to realize that we do not need to side with evil, ever, period. We are not our own, we are the Lord's and we are His slaves now, not the enemies or OCD.

When I was going through my OCD at it's worst I had intrusive images. I had all sorts of them. Commiting suicide and seeing myself do it in the image and then feeling compelled to act out what I saw was horrible, but God delivered me from that. Harming my children in all sorts of ways to the point I couldn't be around them because of the images flashing through my head with the thoughts. Some carried over into my dreams I think because I was so terrified of them and it haunted me. I would be terrified to go to sleep because I was afraid I would do or say something in my sleep. God can help you with this and through this even if it doesn't seem like anything is happening. I know the torture and pain these images and thoughts bring, but there is hope in God. Trust in Him and stay with Him. He will not fail you. You are not alone in your suffering there are others like me and many on here who know what you are going through, but most of all Jesus knows what you are going through.

Its almost like things are tangled up together. It is a real obsession but the last one I had was worse then this one and now I'm free of thinking I'm dead. I claim Victory over this. Some of the feelimgs and urges are like falling it is really weird but I would rather believe I have a chance to pls God then to live in a unhealthy fear of Him.

I have HOCD too (not harm..the other one...yeah it's a devil) but I have had Harm OCD before this whole other one decided to stick into my brain..and I have learned something about OCD. Your asking if it's OCD (reassurance) It's OCD. You have doubt it's OCD because it feels too real it's OCD (OCD is called the doubting disease) intrusive thoughts...yup thats OCD too. Have I figured out how to beat it? Nope..But I can tell you this...it's just your OCD talking. Pray..thats what I do. It makes it a heck of alot easier.
