  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I thouhgt it might be nice for people to introduce themselves to the forum, since we seem to be coming from a number of different forums and may not be familiar with each other.

I'm interested to get a basic idea of who everyone is, what kind of background they are from etc.

I have frequented the Anglican forum here (STR) and the spirit filled forum (SFPC).

I was raised non-denominational Evangelical Charismatic. About 2-3 years ago I became an Anglican, though I am still evangelical and charismatic.

I'm particularly interested in meshing the historic/traditional ideas and practices of the church with the current revival of evangelical and charismatic faith.
Another passion of mine is unity among conservative beleivers of all denominations. There are a lot of misunderstandings and prejudices we need to get past and remember that our unity in the essentials shouldn't be broken by our freedom in the rest. Even when those other guys use their freedom to have bad doctrine

Was sort of waiting for someone else to jump in first, but...

Um, I only became a Christian a year and a half ago, after being a militant atheist who also dabbled quite heavily in the occult. Craziness. Have decided I was more of an anti-theist. Anyway! (I ramble. I should admit that from the start... )

I started as a *very* liberal Christian, and have become more and more conservative as I've become closer to Jesus. I have friends who have deconverted, and becoming hugely liberal was the final step before "losing" their faith entirely. Although, I know God will bring them back to Him

I mostly spent time in the Friendship forum, and posted in non-denom and in SFPC, also, and a bit in the WOF subforum. I used to spend a lot of time in Apologetics (GA) but it started to hurt quite a bit, so I stopped.

In terms of denomination... I just don't know. Charismatic is in there, and I hold to a lot of WOF's beliefs, but I also know it can very easily deviate from scriptures, so am wary.

Humm. Charismatic Evangelical Non-denominational conservative Christian with an interest in Aologetics... but not from a theological perspective, at your service

Hi!

I'm a charismatic, evangelical Christian.
In England I'd describe myself as a fundementalist - but having come across fundementalists on here, I have come to the conclusion that it means something different in the US! So I'll stick with conservative!

I have an anglican background - brought up on army camps, went to church a lot but never heard the gospel!
Got saved at 18, drifted around on the edges of the restoration movement for a long time...
Now am in a non-denominational charismatic church,.

Don't understand a lot of denominational stuff - I believe the Bible, and I love Jesus - that's about it!

Hi My name is Sue I mean Jim

I've been here I think about 3 years. I am WELS Lutheran, one of the most conservative church bodies there is. We believe in all the bible and accept it as written.

I'm an outdoors nut. I love being outside and working outside. My favorite hobbies are hunting and fishing, although I just don't have time for fishing anymore, maybe in next year, and my time spent hunting is getting less too. The thing I like about hunting is being outside in the fall. Upper Michigan is beautiful. Setting in the woods among a stand of oak trees that have turned red when the sun setting is just about the most beautiful thing eyes can behold. Watching birds and squirells and all the other wild life is also so peaceful.

Munchkin, if I can help you in anyway please let me know. I love the chance to help young Christians grow in their faith. To be sure the angels in heaven rejoiced when you came to faith

Hi, I'm PreachersWife2004, aka Beckie. I'm WELS, have been my entire life, and will be until the day I meet Jesus face to face!

I hold conservative theological and political views.

I was adopted.

I have three sons and have another on the way. We're hoping for daughter so we can shell out $$$ for at least one wedding, and so that Matt can have the infamous talk with the first boyfriend while the shotgun's laid across his lap.

I play the piano, the clarinet, the bass clarinet and the trumpet. I also play the flute but I don't necessarily like to own up to it. I play organ, too, but I'm self taught and I don't play magnificently. I only play well enough to substitute when our regular organist is gone and the sequencer isn't working.

I am currently a stay-at-home mom, which is Beckie-speak simply means I'm unemployed. This gives me much time for changing diapers and posting on internet boards.

Any questions?

Hello! I've been here almost 3 years. I became a believer about 4.5 years ago, but I finally accepted Christ and learned to trust him on May 20, 2007. From the ages of 16 - 22, I was agnostic and bordering seriously on atheism. I used to be very liberal. The closer I've gotten to Christ, the more conservative I've gotten (much like GreenMunchkin). I'm conservative religiously, socially, and politically. I attend an SBC church. I hope to be baptized very soon and become a full-fledged member of that church. I had never been around a group of believers so on fire for God before attending that church.

Hello all!
I'm Greenthumb. Most everyone calls me GT.
I've been a member here at CF for about 2 1/2 years, but I've never posted anywhere in congregational before. I never really knew where I fit. And it just all seemed too overwhelming...so I went for the fluff threads. I spend most of my time in friendship court, rec room and deeper fellowship.
I attend a Mennonite Brethren Church, but did not grow up Mennonite, nor can I say I am Annabaptist. I grew up in a Plymouth Brethren Assembly, which I suppose has groomed me well for being a Conservative Christian. I have not attended a Brethern Assembly for over 20 years.
Hmm...I've lost my train of thought which I do often.
I accepted Christ when I was 7 years of age. But it wasn't until I was much older and away from home that I learned to apply Christianity to me personally and it became real to me and not just what my parents believed.
I'm still learning and it's a journey, but one I wouldn't trade for anything in this world.
I read a lot more than I post...most of my post count has come from game threads or fellowship threads. But not a lot of discussion. Maybe that will change with this new forum. We'll see.
Oh...and I'm addicted to smileys. :o

Hello,

I post as zoziw on this forum and though I was quite active and a site supporter about two years ago, changes made while I was on staff caused me to resign and post much less frequently.

I am hopeful that these new rules (and this new forum) will get me back into the habit of posting here.

I have ended up splitting my time between a Christian and Missionary Alliance church and an Evangelical Missionary Church of Canada church.

I have attended the EMCC church for 14 years and seen it morph into a mega-church. I started showing up at a CMA church close by my house because I enjoy the smaller statement of faith and the small size of the church.

We haven't been too fond of the new pastor at the CMA church and are kind of questioning if we will continue going there, attend the other church full time or just find something new in the fall.

I was raised in the United Church of Canada which is a very liberal denomination and had stops at the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Canada; Lutheran Church - Canada (LCMS) and a Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada church before landing in mainstream evangelicalism (at least as far a Canada goes).

My favourite theologians are all evangelical anglicans including Alister McGrath and NT Wright (of course, CS Lewis needs no mention).

I am a chinese christian from Singapore. About 20++ % of the people here are christians. So, yup, we are not the majority in my country.

I am from a pentecoastal church.

I am from a taoist family, and become the christian at age 18. I was a VERY liberal christian at first, believing that as long as you believe in Jesus, you can follow anything you want. (Well, I did not attend church, back then. Parents forbid it.)

As I grow to know Jesus more through a series of problems that come to my life, and get to meet REALLY serious christians on fire for Him, I become more conservative in my christian worldview, although, I also heavily believe in reaching out to the non-christian people.

I am considered charismatics, since I believe in and practised the gifts of tongues and believe in and worship in a church that is charismatic.

However, I always believe thaT LOVE and christlikeness unite the believers more than any gifts or talents, so I often fellowship with non-charismatic christians from different denominations in my school, who I can see, really love Jesus like the way I do.

For me now, I guess, how much a person loves Jesus, and how much he or she obeys and practises God's Word, The Bible, matters more to me than which church or denomination he or she is from.
