Hi all! I'm not technically new here. I was a member here before but I couldn't remember my login info so, new account. Anyway, it'd been a looooonnngg time since I was here. So, I'm married, obviously. I came back because, well I could use some "friends" out there, ya know? I've never been married before so this is all new....I had waited and waited and waited for the right one. Well, thankfully God blessed me with the most amazing man. But, lately I've been feeling like a failure. So, I came here hoping to get support and encouragement on how to be a good wife. And give in return. But, seriously I don't know what I'm doing. Yeah...I'm a perfectionist. And this all new to me. I'm having a hard time figuring out this wife business. Lol. It seems I never have time for all the things I want to do around the house. We both work full time. So, actually I have 2 full time jobs. Ha.

If you are feeling down about yourself after 6 months of married life, there's a good chance he is too.

When people move to a new country and a strange culture it is usually about six months after arrival when culture shock sets in. "Gee! What have I done? What have I got myself into? What on earth made me think I could cope with this?" Maybe what you're feeling is equivalent, and I'll wager that a whole lot of married people go through the same kind of reaction - some sooner, some later. Hold on, talk a lot about it together, and carry on... love doesn't give up. You'll make it OK if you set your mind (and heart) to it.

Welcome back. I have been married 25 years and making each other happy is not God's goal. His goal is for iron to sharpen iron and for the different genders to be used as tools of His discipleship. The good news is that happiness is the fruit of discipleship. The bad news is that pruning and being molded can be stressful and painful. So do not be weary in well doing for in due season you will reap.

His sis! Congratulations on your marriage! After reading your post, honestly, I would suggest that you not hold yourself up on a pedestal of expectations, because it may burn you out. Even expectations regarding your husband, because you may one day resent him for something (God forbid). What I would do is just have an honest convo with him about what you two expect from one another so that there is no other assumptions that float around in your mind. I hope this helps!

If you both work full time, you should both be pitching in around the house. There is no reason that should all fall onto you. Other than that, what specifically are you trying to figure out about being a wife?
