Christ is in our Midst!
Greetings, I'm Reader Bede. My son, Emperor Constantine, suggested I join this forum.
I'm named for the seventh century Benedictine Saint, Venerable Bede. He was a prominent historian and theologian of his time having written the first commentaries on the Epistles and the Church History of England. He helped establish the date of Easter and recommended corrections in the calendar of its time. Many of Venerable Bede's writings are required readings in theological institutions of today. He lived during an era known as "Orthodox England", which was essentially prior to the Anglo-Saxon invasion of Britain and prior to the 1054 AD estrangement between the Latin West and Greek East. Many Saints during the era of Orthodox England are commemorated in both western and eastern calendars.
I'm a Tonsured Reader in the Eastern Orthodox Church (OCA jurisdiction - to those who keep count)
Reader is part of the minor clergy, just below the ordained rank of Subdeacon (but I bet you knew that already!).
