Hello, my name is Hollie and I am a recovering cutter.
I began cutting when I was 13, and have been 'silent' a little over a year.
My situation, I believe is a common one, though not spoke on often.
My dad knew what I was doing, but rather did nothing to stop it aside from saying 'don't do that'. I vividly remember the first time, and the last time I cut, though unless requested I will not speak on it at this time. I will however divulge a tip on overcoming the illness. It is nice to have a person who will look at it, and not judge. Many of my friends, saw what I did and were truly disgusted by it, the word 'crazy' often popped out of their mouths. However I had one person, someone not even that 'close' to me who looked at it, through 'normal' eyes. Not casting judgment, but just recognizing that it was there, and it shouldn't be, but that I wasn't necessarily at fault. I would be more than happy to talk to anyone on this topic, and I extend all my resources. I do not have im's at the moment, but I do have email, pms (on here) and I would even be willing to speak over the phone.
If you are currently a cutter, just remember that you are in control of your entire life, though it may seem like 'your body' is the only thing you have power over, that is not true. You have the power to make your own choices in life, from what you want to be to how you want to dress to how you will carry out your daily activities.
To those that have overcome, I commend you. I know it wasn't / isn't a hard thing to do, but you have surpassed your own self and became ruler of your own domain.
