I am a member of the vineyard church. I have been active in Christianity for two years. I am nowhere near holy and pure. I am a bit how Paul describes the dilemma

Romans 7:15-17
I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do. 16 And if I do what I do not want to do, I agree that the law is good. 17 As it is, it is no longer I myself who do it, but it is sin living in me.

So I hope I can learn of other members here to be a better Christian.

Welcome to the Forums. There are some wonderful Christian brothers and sisters here and some encouraging and challenging discussion. What are some areas you are hoping to learn about or grow in? How did you come to know Christ?

As an encouragement, here's the 3-step process Paul gives to the Ephesians about how to grow in this new life the Father has given through Christ by the Holy Spirit:

Ephesians 4:20-24
But that is not the way you learned Christ!—Assuming that you have heard about him and were taught in him, as the truth is in Jesus, to put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds, and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.​

This is the answer to Romans 7:15-17 and under girds Paul's joyful praise at the end of that chapter (vv.24-25).

Wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death? Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, I myself serve the law of God with my mind, but with my flesh I serve the law of sin.

I am hoping to grow in my Biblical knowledge. I hope to become more people orientated and to have more friends.

I would go along to church with my girlfriend and after a couple of months it all made perfect sense. I felt the Holy Spirit working though me. Hallelujah.

Thanks for sharing. One of my new favorite passages to encourage new and older believers alike is Ephesians 1:1-14. Here's why:

• There are no commands, only descriptions of the blessings the Father, Son and Holy Spirit have procured for you:
  • Chosen to be blameless before him (not condemned, free to fully experience his love without fear of judgement. From this point on, no pain or suffering you experience is meant to harm you, but only to help you mature).
  • Adopted as sons (with all the benefits and inheritance of Jesus as THE Son, God always and only treats you as his beloved child.)
  • Our slate of rebellion against God has been washed clean (God doesn't ever hold you past against you. If you ever feel that way, it is NOT coming from God but from the Accuser)
  • The Father now gives us insight into the future, confidence that Jesus has conquered sin and death and that it is just a matter of time before he "crushes Satan underneath your feet" and unites everything to himself(you can live with absolute joy and confidence even in the darkest of situations. Death holds no fear for you)
  • We have been given an eternal inheritance
  • This inheritance is guaranteed by the personal indwelling of the Holy Spirit who gives us current benefits of God's kind of life (Galatians 5:22-24) and proof of the life to come as we learn to act like our new "Dad" as perfectly shown in the life of Jesus.
• The passage is clear that relational connect to the Father, through Christ, by the Holy Spirit is the entire scope of the Christian life. Out of this connection comes the new way of living that is patterned on the very life of God which is holy (different and better than anything else) and righteous (good, beautiful, true, loving, free) (see Ephesians 4:24).
• The rest of the book of Ephesians presumes this new life as the source and power for living in a new way.
• If you read and memorize or get a deep familiarity with the benefit God has given you in Jesus (i.e. the spiritual blessings mentioned in v.3) you will be well defended from doubt, fear, and spiritual attack from the enemy of your soul. This is the rest that Jesus promises when we come to him (Matthew 11:25-30).

yes actually by the blood of Jesus we all are...the Scriptures declare that he has made us holy and pure.
