I’ve been around here off and on for a while, I’ve never posted to this thread, but I guess this is a good time to do so now, at least until the oven dings alarming me to my bake to rise pizza being done

I’m James, 39, single (never married) and my astrological sign is absolutely inconsequential
I attend a Calvary Chapel, and consider myself to be a “balanced fundamentalist”. Actually as my profile puts it, Evangelical-Fundamentalist Ultraconservative Dispensationalist, now pat your head and rub your belly while saying that ten times reeeealy fast. Well it certainly takes practice to keep your balance

Hi!

It seems I know and like many of you, so I'm likely to drop in from time to time. I won't be asking to join, since although I'm a fundamentalist by some definitions, I'm not enough of one to go along with your SoF.

I support the original Five Fundamentals (as adopted by the 1910 General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church):

• Inerrancy of the Scriptures
• The virgin birth and the deity of Jesus (Isaiah 7:14)
• The doctrine of substitutionary atonement by God's grace and through human faith (Hebrews 9)
• The bodily resurrection of Jesus (Matthew 28)
• The authenticity of Christ's miracles (or, alternatively, his pre-millennial second coming)[4

... although my interpretation of the first point might be a tad on the liberal side.

And I'm a member of an Assemblies of God church, which is conservative, evangelical and Pentecostal.

Where we part company is that I'm socially moderate to liberal, and politically libertarian. And that while I love orthodoxy, I greatly prefer "generous orthodoxy" over "militant orthodoxy".

So, while I'm not quite one of you and probably never will be, we do have a lot of common ground. I'm looking forward to some good conversations.

Hello I am sealacamp. I joined about a month ago and am a refugee from POF and MD forums where the bashing of all things Godly or Christlike is in style. Of course that is the way of the world now and has been and will be until the Lord completes the making of all things new. I don't know if I am a fundamental or not, I do get called that quite often. I only know that I believe in God's word, His son, and in His spirit without compromise. I believe that any who will may come but if we come with out repentance and surrender in our hearts we come in vain, this is what God's word says and I believe this to be the truth. Is we have not reached the point of surrender where God can work in our lives I know He will bring us there. I have seen this happen time and time again. I have lived it as well so I know it is the truth. I am hoping to make some Christian friends here and be able to discuss God's truth with out the incessant reproach that is delivered in those other forums.

LOL, I probably should check to make sure we're talking about the same POF. I was referring to Plenty of Fish (dating website with forums). Can't think of what MD is off the top of my head though.

Mmmm, probably not to that exact site though. I only really stayed there for the forums. Basically you can say all over your profile that you're Christian, what that means, and that you're only looking to date Christians, and STILL you get emails from people who ignore that. Or they email to tell you how horrible you are for being so closed-minded. But even more than both of those, you get emails from people who say they're Christian because they go to church once in a while, but really don't know God, the Scriptures, or what it even is to be a Christian. And they're very offended when they discover you don't plan to sleep with them if you were to start dating. It's not a whole lot different on the Christian sites, but there are a few Christians on those ones, at least. I've only met a very small handful of them on POF. Even on the religion forum you'll see a few say they're Christian. But once you get into any doctrinal discussion it gets weird really fast! (People into mixing their beliefs with other religions, polygany, etc.). I signed back in a while ago (with my husband!) to check out the forums and see how they're doing. Pretty much the same things being rehashed over and over. But rarely anyone to really discuss things from a Christian perspective.

That gives a whole new meaning to Mat. 7 where it teaches about the narrow gate & few finding it.

It's really tragic.
This is why I usually question all the "Christian" stats they come out with.
People claim Christianity, but start defining it in any detail and the numbers shave off dramatically.

Hello ... can I join in? I'm not new to CF, but definitely new to this particular forum. Here's an excerpt from the bio on my blog...

I'm sure you'll get to know me more as the days go on, but in the mean time here is a short intro. My name is Dani and I'm 31... I'm a wife to my dear husband Cullen and momma to a precocious 3-year old boy, CJ and Billy, born in late 2007. I am a (former) Catholic, who is just now discovering the joys of Biblical Christianity and everyday I am learning something new as I grow in my relationship with the Lord.

Anyhow, that's me. I was a devout Catholic until about 2006 when I started questioning. Found a church for our family over the summer and was officially "saved" in late August. I'm in beginning stages of planning my real baptism which I've discussed a bit in the Baptist forum.

Hoping I can find a home here.
