  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I can only narrow that down to non-fiction which I read all types of from bios to histories to current events like the Iraq War as well as travelogues and books on expeditions up mountains and down rivers and through jungles, etc and some sports stuff and some politics plus books on Christian living and Christian history. I LOVE to read all sorts of good stuff!

If you were going to write a book to help people, what might you write about?

I don't really have one but I'm quite fond of this by Henry David Thoreau...

"Simplify, simplify."

Our lives, in general, get too complicated in ways that people probably don't consider complicated... and if we stripped away all that stuff that we don't truly need, we'd be able to draw closer to God. Sadly, I think too many people are so addicted to all that "stuff" that it's an impossible request to fill.

Is there a particular movie that you've watched like over & over and if there is, how come you've watched it so often?

I do have some fond memories of my childhood, but not all of them are. Bill Watterson once said "People who get nostalgic about childhood were obviously never children."

What is your favourite quote or poem?
Well, not that one. :D ;) I was always fond of "To avoid criticism, do nothing, say nothing, be nothing" Who was that by again? something something Hubbard. (sorry answering from memory)

Do you ever bump threads that seem to be dying?
