  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Seeing so many positive responses on this thread really made my day - not that I was expecting a significant number of anti-interracial people to answer - but things have changed for the positive over the years. I believe that interracial love and marriage is a major key to ending racial division and prejudice in our society, albeit in slow degrees. In general terms, it's harder to be afraid of, dislike or be suspicious of kinsmen and relations - who happen to be of a different race from you.

In many ways, interracial dating doesn't bother me much. It's true that the cultural differences are what most often get in the way. However, one thing I have thought of and that has been brought up in one of my child development classes, is what about the fact that some diseases are carried by only one race? Like only African Americans can carry sickle cell anemia. How would it affect a child who is, say, both Spanish and African American?

There is no genetic disease that is carried by only one race, but you may find that some diseases are more prevalent a particular race. Take your example--sickle cell disease. You only have the disease if you inherit two recessive sickle genes. Therefore, if both parents have the disease, the children have a 100% risk of inheriting full blown Sickle Cell. If both parents are carriers (one normal gene and one sickle gene), the risk is 25%. If only one parent is a carrier, the risk is 0% although 50% of the offspring would be carriers.

A mixed race child would probably have less of a risk of having a genetic disorder which is transmitted by recessive genes, but diseases transmitted by dominant genes wouldn't necessarily follow this rule. It is therefore only wise to ask about the other partner's family history, and if there is a concern, get screening before having children. Infectious diseases, like HIV, on the other hand, are a whole different matter--they respect no-one.

I have no problems with interracial dating...

I'm black american and i think black men are beautiful...however i just never end up with them lol

My relationship is with a mexican man now who is wonderful to me, we are working out the corks and i think he will be the one i will marry and probably soon. We have different cultures true but we don't make it an issue, we love each other and that's what matters.

I never really had a preference, I just went for personality and who matched me. To be honest I think there is something hot about all guys from any race. I really just see the person for who they are and not the color of their skin. My friends and family pointed out to me just this past year that when i describe people I only mention personality and they just never know what race they are until they see them lol... that's not intentional that's just how i am. Hey I love people :D
