  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Is anybody having any problems with their internet surfing? My husband said he heard on the news that there is a virus that is causing some major problems with surfing and people not being able to get their email. I can surf if I first go to hotmail but I can't even get my homepage to load. Also can't get my email from my ISP.

Thanks for the info Lynn.  I appreciate it! :D

I work at a college and Tuesday-Thursday we had what we call our "SWAT Tour." This is when a group of students/staff who work for our I.T. department and especially our ResNet (Residential Networking) section go out and hook up students computers to our network or resolve problems and stuff.

Thursday night they came across a rather serious problem regarding IE. Students could get to the web using the AOL browser or Netscape, but not Internet Explorer.

It turns out in some of the programs the kids would use at home (because they're not allowed to be used at school) to download music, movies, etc. had various bits of spyware. And one of them caused some sort of bug or something that messed with IE.

I forget the name of an application, but there was one that specializes in removing all sorts of spyware as well as cookies, temp files, and even lists of most recently viewed documents on Windows. It works similar to Ad-Aware which members have discussed on here.

But I just thought I'd mention that too. :)
