  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

There is always something left behind, weather it's left behind in the temporary internet files even after you delete them or in the registry, also, the "c:\temp" and/or "c:\windows\temp" directorys are something that should be emptied manually by just deleting everything in them...... If there is something behind this question feel free to pm me bro.....

ofcourse! the very dark side of windows. user.dat file hides stuff that you will never believe even still existed.
ahhhh, doofus runs to his user.dat file to get rid of the evidence :eek:

On another note, you can go into Taskbar and Start Menu in the control panel and empty your recent files, it just deletes the shortcut to the file, not the actuall files.......

Programs like Evidence Eliminator will get rid of everything but it is expensive and you have to shut down practically everything in XP when you run it.
It is so good that they claim your files are so eliminated and overwritten that even the software used by police and government agencies cannot find the files you had. I think that is a bit overkill for the average computer user though and it was designed more for people that downloaded things of an illegal nature.

I use to use it with Windows 98SE and it was great at getting rid of excess files and cleaning it all up. I now just use Window Washer 5 which seems good so far.

AdAware = http://www.lavasoft.de/
SpyBot = http://security.kolla.de/

Try those, I've never used them but they were recommened by someone in another forum that I trust as knowing what they are talking about....Also, try turning on your firewall in XP, that might help keep those kind of things from getting in to begin with.....

Adaware is good. I use it here exclusively. I also do computer consulting/networking and recommend that to all my clients.
I like Spybot better as it is much faster and has received more praises lately.
Another good program is Pest Patrol but it is not free.

Agreed. The other thing about spybot is the stuff it catches that adaware doesn't (although I don't disagree with the fact that adaware is good).

I just use them both and also run Pest Patrol.
There isn't anything left after this 3 program scan. :D
