That's not what I said and you know it. This sites entire mod staff is both Conservative and Christian. The ban of the discussion of homosexuality is clearly the first step of a long road.

Oh, so now we are discussing this message board and the ban on the promotion of homosexuality?

hmmm,

There's a ban on discussing homosexuality?!
EDIT: I'm not being sarcastic either, is this a real thing?

Oh wow, where have you been? :p

Christian Forums - Announcements in Forum : Ethics & Morality

There is also a ban on discussing the ban on the H word, so let's bring this back to the topic as defined by the OP..

..what is "unethical"? I certainly think that the owner of a place has the right, and should have the right, to remove any unwanted guests, quell any unwanted discussion, etc. But this can become a "lesser evil" situation. Let's assume that some unwanted guest is in my house, and it's raining terribly outside, and my guest needs to walk home for half an hour. Me throwing him out into the rain is an "evil" thing to do. Me being forced to keep him in (and thus me being stripped of my property rights) is a greater evil. When pity doesn't stay my hand, and there are no other options, I should go for the lesser evil and throw him out. When there is a third option (e.g. allowing my guest to use my phone so that he can call his parents to come pick him up by car), going for the move that maximizes suffering for my guest at a minimal gain in happiness for me (i.e., just throwing him on the street) might still be lawful, legal, my right, etc, but I don't know if I would call it "ethical".

Same goes for the forum situation. While admins should still have the right to determine who discusses what/when/where/how, they can exercise that right in manners that minimize "suffering" for the guests on the forum, or they can do it in ways that maximize suffering. Doing it in a way that maximizes suffering if it has no significant benefit to the owner (and no, a benefit of "MWUAHAAHAH, I LOVE BEING EVILLLL!!!"-doesn't count) could be called unethical, even if it's legal.

Meh, when this hypothetical forum supposedly holds itself to higher standards than most other forums it makes it immoral, or at the very least hypocritical.
Hey, I've only just been informed about the new rules on CF. And besides, wouldn't holding yourself to a higher moral standard makes you more moral?

Why on Earth would they do that? Discussing the ethics surrounding homosexuality hardly promotes it. I've never seen someone say "You should be gay", only "If you are, then that's OK". Very different things.

Perhaps the mods would like to enforce a NO EVOLUTION censor over at P&LS? That's certainly a controversial topic. Heaven forbid we should discuss controversy! Good Lord, next thing you know we'd be debating things in a calm and rational way! That is indeed the road to madness.

Hmm. Like I said earlier here, such draconian censorship is going to do nothing but create a poor forum. Maybe I won't be spending as much time in E&M.

Tsk tsk, CF.

In theory. IMO, it just makes you more likely to view yourself as right and everyone else as wrong. ;)
