  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hi my name is Jennifer, I am studying IAD ( Internet Addiction Disorder). I would like some feed back on this issue ie Is it real? Have you ever heard of IAD before now? Have you personally experienced IAD before ( You, a family member or a friend) If you have how did it affect you/them? And what did you/they do to get help?

Never heard of the disorder before. I suppose the internet, much like anything else in life, can become addicting. I've noticed myself not watching as much tv anymore in lieu of surfing the 'net. The internet is more interactive than tv, and provides me with the same, if not more, entertainment - especially this site ;)

The internet itself is not addictive. It does not physically change your body beyond your body's natural capacity to change. It may produce more endorphins and serotonin when you use it, but no more than are produced with any pleasurable activity.

People may become psychologically dependent on the Internet, but by the same coin they may become psychologically dependent on almost anything. The Internet is not addictive.

Out of all the addictions you can have, this would be one of the best. At least on the internet you learn things, are exposed to new ideas, and it's interactive.

I religiously check sites like Digg, ICANHASCHEEZBURGER, Newgrounds, CF, YouTube etc... in my free time. It's just the best alternative. It's like reading, watching tv, listening to music, and playing games all rolled into one.

Granted, too much of anything is always bad. Heck, if you breath to heavily you'll get dizzy.

Do you think the fact that it is interactive is what perhaps could make it addictive?

Everyone has a problem....that's what they say nowadays. People love saying others have a problem.

What about those who themselves say they have a problem? And do you think the internet could be a genuine problem?
