  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Interesting website

Greetings to one and all, One of my favorite websites is www.dukhrana.com It compares Greek-to-English translations with Aramaic-to-English translations. The Peshitta Tool compares Greek NT (Westcott-Hort 1881 combined with Nestle-Aland 27th variants) [apparatus], Greek NT (New Testament in the Original Greek: Byzantine Textform 2005),Greek NT (Stephens' 1550 Textus Receptus combined with Scrivener's 1894 Textus Receptus), Greek NT (Tischendorf 8th), Greek NT (Official Greek Orthodox Church NT)
The Aramaic-to-English translations include Dr. John W. Etheridge's English Peshitta translation, Dr. James Murdock's English Peshitta translation, Dr. George Lamsa's English Peshitta translation, and Paul Younan's Aramaic-English Interlinear. Old Syriac Curetonian Gospels and Old Syriac Sinaitic Palimpsest are also available. There are also check boxes for the King James Version, check boxes for Hebrew NT (Franz Delitzsch 11th Ed.) Latin Vulgate (Clementine Vulgate).
The Crawford Codex, Khabouris Codex, and Yonan Codex each have their links. All 510 pages of the Khabouris are viewable. Stephen P. Silver has transcription, translation, original images, with complete indexing throughout. The best I can tell about the Khabouris Codex is that it is an 11th century work with the prefatory colophon stating that it is a copy of another manuscript from the Great Persecution under Shapur II (a Persian magnate who lived from 309 A. D to 379 A. D.). Under the Crawford Codex link, Stephen P. Silver transcribed 2nd Peter, 2nd and 3rd John, and Jude. Greg Glaser did the transcription, translation, and commentary on Revelation. Lexicons include BROCKELMANN LEXICON SYRIACUM | CASTELLI Lexicon Syriacum|COSTAZ Syriac-French-English-Arabic Dictionary | JENNINGS Lexicon to the Syriac New Testament | JASTROW A Dictionary of the Targumim, the Talmud Babli and Yerushlami, and the Midrashic Literature Volume I & II ] R. PAYNE SMITH Thesaurus Syriacus J. Payne Smith's (Mrs. Margoliouth) A Compendious Syriac Dictionary | J. P. Margoliouth's Supplement to the Thesaurus Syriacus of R. Payne Smith, S.T.P. ][Hassan bar Bahlul's
Syriac Lexicon VOLUME 1 & 2 (10th century) | TOMA AUDO Treasure of the Syriac Language VOLUME 1 (ALAPH-KAPH) & VOLUME 2 (LAMADH-TAW)|Bishop J. E. Manna's CHALDEAN - ARABIC DICTIONARY DUKHRANA ANALYTICAL LEXICON, and [ MULTIPLE LEXICON SEARCH ]
The Peshitta Tool uses the SEDRA (Syriac Electronic Data Retrieval Archive) of George Kiraz. The four Gospels have a link for each verse from the commentary of Ishodad of Merv (circa 850 A. D.).
