  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Prayer for You

I frequently, in times of trouble and sorrow, ask the the Lord to pray and intercede for me. This has helped me tremendously through many a tough times.

While on the earth, Jesus prayed not only for his disciples but also for you and me (John 17: 6-26 [note vs 20]; Luke 22: 31-32; Rom 8:26). I believe that just because Jesus ascended does not mean he has stopped praying and interceding for us.

We are encouraged when we know a fellow Christian is interceding on our behalf for our infirmities and tribulations, but should we not much more rejoice and be comforted knowing that Christ Jesus himself currently makes intercession for us?

Rom 8:34 "Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us."

Rom 8:27 "And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God."

Heb 7:25 "Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them."

Isa 53:12 "Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors."

This is a nice habit. Don't forget to ask other Christians to intercede for you, too. :)

Note that Jesus' death on the cross is an ongoing intercession for us. He "always intercedes" for us that way, too.
