• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I'm afraid I'm not seeing how the parable of the talents supports your point... in fact, it seems to do the exact opposite.

All of the benefits that you have mentioned are temporal, and if you focus solely on the temporal (which all Atheists do), then you will find no eternal benefit whatsoever, meaning for you your science will be ultimately useless, and you will not make it to the next world. Jesus told Martha: "There are few things in this life that are paramount, really only one", and that one thing is making it to the next world and beyond. Oh and by the way your technology has also given you nuclear warfare, which is one of the things that will be instrumental in bringing about the end, so you actually play a part in the tragedy that you are totally unaware of, but that is not surprising, someone who is busy stuffing themselves rarely notices what is actually going on around them.

Just more proof that ID/creationism is more than just an attack on evolution. It is an attack on all of science. They would prefer to send us back to the Dark Ages.

Mat 5:30 “If your right hand makes you stumble, cut it off and throw it from you; for it is better for you to lose one of the parts of your body, than for your whole body to go into hell.

It is foolish to try to use the Creation to disprove/discount the Creator, revel in your achievements until the end, and then you will have nothing, your science will have profited you nothing and you will be swept away like chaff. The Bible is clear on this, if you choose to disregard it, that is your choice, but the fact that you are also choosing Hell is very clear. Then you will have no one to blame but yourself.

And how many body parts have you chopped off?

We've heard this all before... what makes your warnings any better than all the others?

Why would a spiritual concept make sense to someone that despises spiritual things?

Ask someone who despises spiritual things.

A perfect description of why Christians should throw out ID/creationism:

"If the tenets of young earth creationism were true, basically all of the sciences of geology, cosmology, and biology would utterly collapse. It would be the same as saying 2 plus 2 is actually 5. The tragedy of young-earth creationism is that it takes a relatively recent and extreme view of Genesis, applies to it an unjustified scientific gloss, and then asks sincere and well-meaning seekers to swallow this whole, despite the massive discordance with decades of scientific evidence from multiple disciplines. Is it any wonder that many sadly turn away from faith concluding that they cannot believe in a God who asks for an abandonment of logic and reason?"--Dr. Francis Collins, "Faith and the Human Genome"

It is foolish to try to use the Creation to disprove/discount the Creator,

That's exactly what ID/creationists are doing by insisting on an interpretation of the Bible that conflicts with the Creation.

If I told you that if you didn't convert to Hinduism you would burn in Hell, would that convince you to convert to Hinduism? If not, why do you think the same argument will work against me?

Just because someone rightly points out that your spiritual beliefs do not seem to hold any water does not mean that that person despises spiritual things.

Mar 8:36 “For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world, and forfeit his soul?

I don't care what your book says.

You made a claim about me and what I supposedly believe or worship.

I'm here telling you that you are wrong about me.

Surely, you aren't so arrogant as to think that you know better then me, what I believe, right?

......right?
