Two groups of people will populate a church. One group has read the Bible and tries to obey the Lord’s commandments. The other group engages in a popularity contest.

That might not sound very nice but think about it. Are you committed to obeying the Lord’s commandments or are you just trying to make a name for yourself?

Here’s a tip: We all want to make a name for ourselves, but the only way to do that is to obey the Lord’s commandments.

A third group enjoys the company of the popular people but is not interested in living their life. Another group is seeking friends in a safe setting. Another set is looking for a love interest. Some enjoy the classes but not the sermon. Some like sermons, then go home. Some are there becasue it is a family tradition. Some are "forced" to come every Sunday. Some learn by speech rather than reading. Some need a family due to an "empty nest."

Thanks for getting the ball rolling.

The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.
Mark 12:31

Finally, all of you, be like-minded, be sympathetic, love one another, be compassionate and humble.
1 Peter 3:8

No one should seek their own good, but the good of others.
1 Corinthians 10:24

Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.
Galatians 6:2

It's always easier to start a thread if you can divide everybody up into two groups.

Dreadnought, This is a sidebar, but..
I like your Hawkeyes avatar.. (I was rooting for Iowa in their last-second loss to Penn St this year).
Thank you. How can a team be so good some days and so bad others? Same problem with Iowa State.
