CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Doesn't the ICR have a loyalty oath, where they affirm that no data or theory can contradict the bible and be true?

I've used literature from ICR over the years and it seems excellent. Been to lectures by Drs. Gish, Morris and others. They are fantastic.
I think ICR scares people who are unsure where their faith is.

That sounds like a total nonsequitur. Belief and reason have very little to do with each other, so if you're depending on belief, you aren't using reason pretty much by definition, whatever the state of belief of the person you're not reasoning with.
ICR might be a perfectly wonderful place to uphold your beliefs, but it puts out incorrect science and it does it deliberately. There are ways to reconcile science and religion; lying about science isn't one of them.

Don't go getting all huffy here. You're the one who posted in big fat letters about your endorsement of ICR's material. I just wanted to gauge how much thought went into that endorsement. Did you bother to verify anything you read from them, or did you simply accept it as true because they told you what you wanted to hear?

What? I don't think I know of anyone who worships knowledge as a god. This sounds precisely like the tripe that religious leaders tend to spout in an effort to get their followers to stop thinking. Or at least stop thinking critically. When does knowledge become a false god exactly? Is it anytime your knowledge contradicts Christian dogma? Where is that line drawn?

The Institute for Creation Research is a good site for information, articles, research, and resources. The fact that they all profess a belief in a literal six day creation simply shows that they take the word of God seriously!
Cantuar, would you be able to point out any specific "lies about science" you found on their website? Can you back it up with sound evidence (not your interpretation of it)?
I try to refrain from calling evolutionists liars just because they interpret the evidence differently than I do.
