• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Instead of saying.......

"Love is not an emotion". I would respectfully disagree. We weep because of Love. We experience heartbreak because of Love. We care about others because of Love. Love compels and restrains and moves and animates the will/desire.
That is not agape.

That's why we preach the Gospel, to reveal the True Image of God in the Christ.
His Gospel was of the Kingdom and ways totally contrary, counter-culture to the ways and world man has made in our own image. How can we justify our rebellious nature while claiming to represent the will of God?

The only way I can see to justify rebellion against God while claiming to represent God, is to have a false image of god at the core of your reasoning.

That's possibly okay to disagree, but keep seeking the truth about this**,
so as not to be led astray, even by one's own emotions or feelings.

**the ONLY place I know to seek the truth about this is some websites with sermons / teachings from true teachers decades and centuries ago who spoke clearly and Scripturally about this.
The LOVE Yahuweh requires is a choice of the will to obey Yahuweh, to always DO His Word/ His Way/ follow His Directions regarding everyone we meet also. On this , in Scripture, there is no dispute.

Okay, but think about this:

Being obedient is a product of having faith/trusting God, which has to do with regarding God as trustworthy, which has to do with knowing God. So the greatest commandment is to Love God with all your heart mind and soul. This commandment must first be fulfilled to fulfill al others.

True worship is drawn out by the object of worship and is not discretionary. Those who know Him Love Him for Who He is as a Person, and therefore worship Him in all Truth. We know Him because He gave us of His Spirit. If I could decide to not Love Him, then I never truly knew Him nor loved Him. If I don't know Him then I cannot say I love Him, nor decide to Love Him. Therefore I did not decide to Love Him, He decided to reveal Himself and moved me to Love Him. I see Love on the cross and I am moved to believe that this is God's Son.

ALL the emotions and lusts of the flesh are crucified with Christ for Ekklesia born again in Him.
The emotions and lusts of the flesh go here and there with every wind of doctrine, unstable and untrustworthy and unreliable.

Please consider that the term "will" infers to me two components, the faculty of reasoning pertaining to the mind, and the desire of the heart.
This is my view:

The lusts of the flesh are hardwired to desire carnal pleasure and avoid discomfort. The carnal mind reasons accordingly. This is contrary to empathy which seeks to see others pleased and comforted. The moral/immoral decision/option is therefore one of either sacrificing one's own self to save others or sacrificing others to save one's own self.

The flesh of itself is not emotional. Emotions manifest according to one's beliefs. Paranoia and covetousness are products of the imagination, as is all that is carnal vanity. Emotions have both negative and positive sentiments congruent with spiritual darkness and Light. Despair is present where hope is absent. Fear is based on distrust. Perfect Love casts out all fear even as I believe that Love is Eternal. The flesh in it's lusts are put to death when we pick up our cross and follow Jesus, walking in the same Spirit as Christ, a Love willing even to die and forgive those who would kill us, knowing they know not what they do.

Like power and politics.
In this world there is a struggle for power according to two contrary images of god/God. One seeks power so as to serve others, and one seeks power so as to be served by others.

.... since when are those who are messengers called and chosen by God for Himself to speak His Words, His Testimony, His Way,
since when are those messengers , God's messengers, including teachers and evangelists,
told by God to "learn to contextualize" ? !

The Bible is complete. We do not speak in the same way as the prophets did, but expound on the Word. That involves contextualization.

Otherwise, preachers would turn into lectors, merely reciting the Word.

What do you say to a four year old who hasn't got their own way so has said

'I hate you now mummy'

(So far I have pretended to be sad about it and explained it hurts.

Then the last 3 times I've said 'It doesn't hurt any more because you've said it too much. Saying that you hate me won't get you what you want.')

My girlfriend addressed that with, "Why do you want to hurt mommy? Mommy loves you so much like no one else on earth will ever love you. See ..." Then she picked up her little girl and kept kissing on her and laughing despite the fact that it was like giving a cat a bath.

Instead of saying, “Yuck”
Use: I’m stuffed.

Are you kidding? That would be an outright lie and displeasing to God.

What you should say instead of "yuck" is, "I would rather eat something else."

Why ?

Is that how they all did throughout Scripture? (God's appointed men and women)
I think not.

(Not approving of anything personal either, attack or blessing; - only as the Father in heaven directs.)

Scripture says we are to lift each other up, not be condescending.

Me too. Thread reminds me of the words of St. Seraphim when it comes to words: "You can never be too gentle, you can never be too kind".

IMO you can if doing so requires telling a lie. God hates lying for any reason. No lying allowed - even if I think the lady looks fat.
