I don't know exactly what kind (genre) of music you are looking for, but as far as secular bands go, I love Lifehouse. A lot of their songs could easily be interpreted as praise songs, and I've wondered if that's not exactly what they are, but are just not being billed that way. Anyways, their music is very clean. I can't imagine anyone being offended by anything in their music (lol! now someone can come and prove me wrong on that).

There is quite a bit of secular music that is clean. It just depends on the genres that you are into.

For example, there is some great swing music out there by The Squirrel Nut Zippers, and Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, but if you are not into swing it would be pointless to point you to it.

What kinds of music are you into?

Real guy with deep roots is Dave Matthews.

I wouldn't listen to all of his music, though. There are a couple of songs on his Crash CD that are not so "inspirational."

Green Day has been really inspirational to me. I know it's not very clean, I mean they swear a lot, but I don't really care, I admit I swear quite a lot too. You probably won't like them if you like "calm" music because they're the oppposite of calm. Their American Idiot CD is really good. It's about fighting political injustice, finding yourself, losing someone, standing up for what you believe in, standing by your values, and other stuff. It actually is very inspirational. Green Day's pretty popular I'm sure you've heard of them. Give 'Wake Me Up When September Ends' a listen, it's a nice, sweet song about how Billie Joe Armstrong (the leader singer) lost his father. :):):)

I'd recommend The Gaslight Anthem. They're an amazing group with an energetic sound and really uplifting music, not mention their frontman, Brian Fallon, is a Christian and a really cool guy. Check out their album The '59 Sound and see what you think.:)

i've always loved Bob Dylan, and my favorite album by him right now is The Freewheeling Bob Dylan. It's just some fun music, some of it is really deep and meaningful, other makes no sense whatsoever.

Also, the band Dirty Projectors just released a new album. It's absolutely incredible. Called Swing Lo Magellan

Grouplove is a band that I've really enjoyed lately. Havn't gotten to listen to alot of their music yet, but their song Colours is in MLB 2k12, and I fell in love with it and downloaded it. Judging by the lyrics it seems like a song about staying positive even in the worst of situations. It is definitly catchy also.
Staying with the Colors theme, Colors by Crossfade is a hardish rock song. The lyrics pretty much describe me, and inspired me. Has to deal with not letting problems effecting 'the colors that you shine'. The singer left to start a Christian band shortly after that album also.
