  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I hate being tired but not being able to fall asleep. I go to bed at 11:30, but don't actually fall asleep until 2:00 or 2:30 and I usually wake up several times in the middle of the night. I'm always tired during the day, but there's nothing I can do about it. I almost never drink any cafeine, so I don't know what's keeping me up. Anybody else have this problem? It's so aggrevating. :sigh:

According to my mom, I've been an insomniac since birth. I had trouble sleeping even as a baby, all through childhood, into adolescence and now as an adult I still have periods that I struggle with it.

What helps for me: some herbal teas (cammommile doesn't do a thing, but linden does help for me). Valerian drops. (non adictive and herbal.) And mostly: acceptance. If you start going to bed thinking that you won't be able to sleep and worrying about laying in bed awake for three hours, you will lay awake those three hours. Try to just fill that time with reading, internet, whatever... don't force yourself to sleep. After a while your body will find a rhythm that is natural to you.

Yeah, I suffer from insomina. Its an associated complication of bi-polar disorder.

I have drugs for it. I highly recommend them.

Actually insomnia is usually a compliation of something else. See your doctor.

Well the thing is, sometimes I'll be able to sleep fine. I usually have like 2 or 3 week stretches where I can sleep ok, but then other times I won't be able to.

I would consider some of that herbal tea, but I would have no way to go about preparing it. (I'm in a dorm room with no access to a kitchen)

For me, it's periodical as well.
You only need a plug to put in an electric kettle, or however they call it... linden is readily available here in supermarkets, etc.
Unfortunately, I doubt the university would allow that. They are pretty strict on stuff like that.

They don't allow mircrowaves
I'm shocked and appalled! Every school I've visited has allowed microwaves in their dorm rooms. I would have suggest that to boil water with too! :(

And um, with the insomnia, do you get enough exercise during the day on those nights you can't sleep well? During the summer I had trouble falling asleep because I had taken a lot of time off from swimming. Maybe take one pill (200 mg) of tylenol pm?

Yea, they have a lot of weird rules. Luckily, I never have the need for a microwave.

Maybe your right. I really don't get much exercise. I'm not really sure what I'd do to get exercise...

I dunno. The last thing I want to do is get addicted to something like this.
