  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I thought it might be good if there was a thread where people could post insights or revelations about life that they've experienced on their spiritual journey, so perhaps we may all gain something from them, whatever our traditions.

When we realize the condition of mankind, existing in suffering and ignorance, how can we be angry with anyone?

Very good thread IMO.

I'd like to relate my personal experience.

It was no big revelation. In my hometown in India, one day I went to a nearby Hindu temple to worship. On the way I saw a tattered old man in soiled clothes searching for something in a roadside gutter. I didn't feel like going to the temple that day. I just came back home.

This happened when I was 16. That particular sight made me start asking a lot of questions and to ponder about life, etc. That was my eye-opener of sorts.

When I was 15, I did my first fast 4 days on green tea, I saw for the first time how program we all are and how attach to the phyical world of illusion we can be.

Another time around the age of 15 - 16 a good friend of mine ask me to imagine myself existing without the body, so I imagine it. Then he ask me to imagine myself existing without my mind-thought complex, so I imagine it. Then he ask me to imagine myself existing without the ego, and so I imagine it. And something happen, it was like a flash in in myself. I have never been the same after that experience.
