• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

HI :)

I'm looking for some insight on a personal situation, and I thought the best place to gain it is to possibly hear out someone else who has walked some of the same shoes. I really don't want to have replies, in order to keep from anyone reliving any past hurts. I would like though, to recieve in PM, someone's story or suggestions on the situation I am helping to others to cope with. To be short, but give enough detail so it's known exactly what the situation is...below are some general details.

16
female
BPD
cuts
unresponsive to current meds
plans of further harm

I think it would be best for all if I can have someone contact me who has been through the similar situation as above, who has long term experience with it, and who doesn't mind sharing thier input. I would greatly appreciate it. This is not for research, but a dear friend whom I've just not been able to help or "reach".

Thank you soo much :)

Hi, my name is Julia Anderson and I am in recovery for Bipolar, BPD, and anorexia.
I recognize your concern for your friend and thank you for that. You need to make sure your friend sticks close to her psychiatrist and her therapist. It takes time to find the right medications, it took me three years! Once, you get the right combination, you can focus on tackling the pain, the issues, and applying the tools.
For now, you need to concentrate on keeping your friend safe. If she threatens to harm herself or does harm herself, call 911 immediately. She may need to stay in the hospital for a few days to keep her healthy.
Above all, start praying for her. Share the simple Gospel with her. If she is a believer, meet with her once a week and start a bible study/prayer time with her. Read the gospel of John. Read "I hate you, don't leave me", "Get me out of here", and "Stop walking on eggshells." These are all books on BPD, Get me out of here is an autobiography of a woman that survives. It would be good for your friend to read that too.
Please keep in touch and let me know how she is doing.
In His Name,
Julia
