Insight from Children

My students were writting about creation stories in their speech writting class, one wrote about Adam and Eve, and I felt like sharing it:

Adam and Eve are the first people. They ate the not allowed fruit. The Devil said "Eat it! Eat it!" So they ate and they think "Why I am not wear the clothes?" God is very angry with them so he punished them. They must go out, and women must have pain in birthing a baby. It is Isreal's creation story. I think Adam and Eve are a little bit stupid. I don't know, but I think if I am Eve I don't eat the not allowed fruit. I promised to God, so if I am Eve or Adam I don't eat it. I'm angry at them. We are ill because of them.

This was written by one of my 10 year old students and I thought it was quite good. I was pretty amazed that this young Korean student was able to express this opinion so well in a language she barely knows. Anyways I thought it was a pleasant suprise for me today and really insightful. I just wanted to share.

That was a fantastic story! It reminds me of the time one my youngest mentees that was in the process of learning English said she was going to recycle her juice box because, "We need take of earth. It the most big thing in the whole world."

How sweet! The innocence and honesty of children is such a blessing We should honor them and God by being MORE like them.
