Then don't ask questions.

Fundamentalists are like a car crash. Sometimes you can't help but slow down and take a look.

The very idea that you would compare a teacher to a Nazi is just . . . sad. Even stranger, the ACLU has taken tons of cases defending religious freedoms, and what thanks do they get? They are called the Anti-Christ.

The words that best describe this twisted view of the world are probably not allowed on CF.

Notice it's referred to as the "Scope's monkey trial;" yet when a person asks why monkeys are still around, he is treated as if he never heard of evolution?

Didn't scientists at one point claim we came from monkeys?

No. There has never been a claim that human beings evolved from monkeys. Not by scientists anyway. You creationists claim it all the time because you do not know the difference between "ape" and "monkey". A monkey IS an ape, just like a human being IS an ape. That's the classification. You don't like that though because you really, really want human beings to be something special, something unique. But we're not. And the statement you just made up there is typical of the ignorance you guys throw around as if it's meaningful.

Americans came from the English. Why are there still English around? It's that simple. And it's why you're treated like an imbecile. Mainly because you ARE an imbecile. A willful one. So since you insist that the question is relevant and meaningful, I'll ask you. Assuming that human beings evolved from monkeys, why would monkeys be gone?

Tell me that AV, since you understand all about evolution and all. Why would monkeys be gone?

We have language, we can invent things and we can contemplate our future. I'd say that is much different than swinging around the trees and eating bugs.

If we were still apes we'd look like Planet of the Apes, not planet of the humans.

Perhaps you shouldn't get your science from Hollywood science fiction movies.

Just don't complain about what you see.

Remember: you don't get to configure the wreckage in a car crash.

You just drive on by and don't whine about it.
The very idea that you would compare a teacher to a Nazi is just . . . sad.
Why? NAZI is an acronym for socialism.
Even stranger, the ACLU has taken tons of cases defending religious freedoms, and what thanks do they get? They are called the Anti-Christ.
Of course they have.

They don't want to appear one-sided, do they?

Even the Antichrist is going to give us 3½ years of [false] peace.
The words that best describe this twisted view of the world are probably not allowed on CF.
That's because it's easier to generate fake indignation, than it is to wait for a reply; isn't it?

Then why is it called the Scopes monkey trial?

If I just now made that term up, then you might have a leg to stand on; but I didn't.

You'd love that. Just follow and don't ask any questions.
I don't mind one or two follow-up questions.

But when someone is trying hard not to understand, and using question marks to stay ... well ... uninformed ... then I get disgusted.
Sieg Heil mein AV!

That's true.

Truth is stranger than fiction, isn't it?

This is the trouble, you assume you are a decent person but behind the mask lies something foul, and every time you show the foulness and people recoil you seem unashamed, unconcerned and, worse, almost proud of the loathsomeness you've exhibited. It's rather like one of those shape shifters in science fiction movies that try and merge into normal society by assuming a human shape but are eventually revealed to be a 3 headed giant insect covered in slime, dripping pus from its mandibles.

Inherit the Wind can take a hike.
what are you, a cobbler.
Is that the movie where the world's greatest theologian is put on the witness stand and ends up having a faith crisis because he can't answer where Cain got his wife or how all the animals got on the Ark?
No, it's the movie where a politician loses some of his followers because he admitted that the Bible was not actually literal.
Hellywood at its best.
It does seem that the movie still holds up well.
I'd like to see them put me on the witness stand and try that.
Well, after all, Brian was a only a politician. But on the witness stand under oath he was lawyer enough to fear a charge of perjury. You wouldn't have that trouble.

By the way, there was a remake, with Jack Lemmon as Drummond, and George C. Scptt as Brady, that was just a re-shoot of the same script and with the same dialogue.

The real trial was a bit different, but the outcome was substantially the same.
