  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I just found the movie, "inherit the wind" playing on television.

It is amazing that some of the debate points that go on here about creation and evolution are in this old movie.

Not really a discussion topic, but it is worth watching.

That's because the debate on this forum is one that was decided long ago.

Inherit The Wind is a cracking movie, Spencer Tracey giving a great performance:

I saw it on tv when I was a kid in the late 70s or early 80s and had to have it explained to me that back in the old days there was a controversy when Darwin published his book and that the film was a historical drama. As far as the rest of the world is concerned it still is a historical drama, but you'd never know it reading this forum.

Inherit the Wind can take a hike.

Is that the movie where the world's greatest theologian is put on the witness stand and ends up having a faith crisis because he can't answer where Cain got his wife or how all the animals got on the Ark?

Hellywood at its best.

I'd like to see them put me on the witness stand and try that.

It appears from the movie clip that they want to worship intellect and progress over the creator and call his words fables.

Well the whole thing, if I remember correctly, was a ploy from the Antichrist Lover's Union in the first place.

Let Christians do that and scientists would call for our heads.

Let Christians do what? Make movies?
Get a man employed by the NEA (Nazi Education Association) as a plant to bring the ACLU (Antichrist Lover's Union) to trial.

Why are you bastarding the acronym ACLU (American Civil Liberties Union) into Antichrist Lover's Union?

It was hilarious.

The guy, the world's greatest theologian, had a faith crisis and died because he couldn't explain where Cain got his wife.

(If I remember the show correctly.)

Notice it's referred to as the "Scope's monkey trial;" yet when a person asks why monkeys are still around, he is treated as if he never heard of evolution?

Didn't scientists at one point claim we came from monkeys?

That's why we call them PRATT's, Points Refuted a Thousand Times. Each new generation of creationists recycle the failed arguments from the previous generation.
