  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Laserman,

I assume the two books you already have are Progressive Dispensationalism and Dispensationalism, Israel and the Church, both by Blaising/Bock and published in the early 1990s. Robert L. Saucy, another leading progressive dispensationalist, wrote a book about the same time called The Case for Progressive Dispensationalism.

Herbert Bateman's book, Three Central Issues in Contemporary Dispensationalism (Kregel Publications, 1999) is insightful for understanding differences between traditional/progressive dispensationalists today. It presents essays on key issues and includes responses to the essays.

Craig Blaising's Three Views on the Millennium and Beyond (Zondervan, 1999) compares premil (Bock), amil (Strimple) and postmil (Gentry) views along with responses to each. Darrell Bock did write a 2 volume exegetical commentary on Luke (Baker Book House, 1994-96). Dyer/Zuck Integrity of Heart, Skillfulness of Hands: Biblical Leadership Studies in Honor of Donald K. Campbell (Baker Book House, 1994) has a couple of essays which touch upon progressive dispensationalism. Of course "Bibliotheca Sacra" - Dallas Seminary's journal - has a good number of articles about progressive dispensationalism throughout the 1990s.

If you are looking for critiques of progressive dispensationalism:
Willis/Master Issues in Dispensationalism (Moody Press, 1994) is a series of essays which defend the traditional dispensationalist point of view. Ryrie's Dispensationalism (Moody Press, 1995) addresses progressive dispensationalism in one of the chapters. This is in the revised/updated book, not the earlier 1965 version. Journals which are critical of progressive dispensationalism include Tyndale Seminary's "Conservative Theological Journal" and the "Master's Seminary Journal". The last two journals are available online (last I checked). Here are a few articles specifically on PD:

If you are looking for someone to ask questions (or clarify) anything about progressive dispensationalism, then feel free to ask me, either in the forums or in PM. I've been a progressive dispensationalist since 1991, I've read the books and articles and I understand the issues.

Hi,

Does anybody know of any books, commentaries, bible study materials that present the Progressvie Dispensational view? I have two books on the subject by Brock and Blaising but I'm looking for others.

Thanks

Barry

They are interesting to read because of their confusion but I urge you not to take them seriously.
