• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Does infatuation/obsession have anything to do with OCD?
I've developed them on friends and a few family members since I was at least 12....
May be a dumb question, but does that mean I MAY have OCD because of this or are all these infatuations a result of something LACKING in my life?

I don't think infatuations, even multiple ones, alone, are any indication you necessarily have OCD. It's possible, of course, and we try not to diagnose in this forum. My take is just simply that you would have to go more to go on than that to suspect OCD. OCD generally manifests in the form of some type of anxiety. At least that's my understanding. If you're seriously troubled by this, you might want to discuss it with a counselor who might have insight about it.

Yeah, could be something else for all we know. Maybe I should take an online test.

Waiting on a doctor isnt always the most fun, it can create alot of anxiety. Try to relax a little, it could be nothing. Im sure you read some of these threads and are scared ^_^

Do you have any type of compulsions, rituals or obsess over other things by chance?

your bottom avater looks like shes a bit worn out :p

Well sometimes I act on impulse, and have had many obsessions in my life with others I know...
I tend to worry a lot...

Actually, the avatar is sad; I changed it when we lost dad, which was a few weeks ago...:(

Hi,
I'd have to agree that it's best to check with a professional about this.
You sound a lot like my daughter. She has always had a tendency to obsess over friendships, new found aquaintances, etc. When she begins a new hobby she goes hog-wild on it too. Like when she was a little girl she learned to make gum-wrapper chains and ended up making one about 75' long. I think mine was about 6' long when I became bored with it and quit. :) It's kind of like she has positive obsessions rather than negative/disturbing ones like I do. Don't know if this is related to OCD or not so I can't offer much other than - "ask a professional".
I am so sorry and saddened about the pain you must be in over this horrible seperation from your Dad. Death, they say, is supposed to be natural, but we know that it isn't. It's the painful result of the fall. The very one who came to conquer it wept over the pain and anguish it caused at the grave of his friend Lazarus.
I'm praying for you.
Mitzi
