DJ Ghost, r u a Goth?

Guilty as charged your honour.

One of the original, 80s spawned, bat cave loving, pointy boot wearing, hair crimping (when I still had hair), three stepping, snake bite and black drinking, garlic dodging, eye liner brigade.

Proud chairman and senior DJ of one of the UKs most influential Goth/industrial clubs - The Charnel House.

Oh wow! Glad to know that there is another Christian out there who knows that song. Do you like it? Pretty sordid lyrics about greedy evangelists, sexual abuse, and terrorism.

I think she's written some really awesome songs about the abuses of religion such as "Jehovah's Precious Stone" and "16 Candles".

Surprisingly, no American Christians have sought to pillory her or her music even though she shared the same label as Madonna for quite a few years.

Stabbbing Westward is considered industrial? The only track I listened from them was the track that they did for the Spawn movie soundtrack.
DJ Ghost, can u post a picture to show how you look like with all your Gothic outfit? It will be cool. In my place here, it is very difficult to get some Gothic clothes and accesories.

Oh yeah. A little more on the mainstream-ish side, but yeah. Especially on Darkest Days (which has the original mix of "Torn Apart" on it). Some of more knowable songs they've done are "What Do I Have To Do?", "Sleep", "Save Yourself", and "When I'm Dead" (the first two are from Wither Blister Burn & Peel; the last two are from Darkest Days). "Save Yourself" actually crops up a lot in radio promos and various commercials, and has, IMO, one of the most readily identifiable riffs/synth-lines in rock music from the past 10 years.

Einstürzende Neubaten (ü = ue). :)

I am a HUGE industrial fan, especially the industrial metal (mainly European).

Rammstein, Megaherz, Eisbrecher (techno-oriented) (these 3 are my favorite), Die Apokalyptischen Reiter, OOMPH! (not too sure how to classify them; check out my soundbite), ASP, the Böhse Onkelz, Letzte Instanz, Silber, Stahlhammer, Unheilig, Janus [All German, except Stahlhammer (Austrian)], Turmion Kälitöt [Finnish], KMFDM, Nine Inch Nails [American], Front Line Assembly, Haujobb, Das Ich [previous two are 'pure' industrial]....

I could go on forever.

I will give it a go, but I’m not certain I know how to do the post a photo thing.

There is a massive gallery on the Charnel house website, although the site is temporarily down this morning I gather (just this minute gotten off the phone from my panicking events manager who has just told me the site is down. We are trying to raise one of our web sub committee to find out why but I am betting the gale we had last night has taken out our server centre again).

What country you in if you don’t mind saying? I may be able to point you in the right direction. My wife owns a Gothic fashion business called Forever In Black, and we make clothing to order, we also sell accessories from various companies, including some that we make ourselves (I work a lot in leather).

We have a skeleton website for FiB up at the moment but its on the same server ad the Charnel House website. We are overhauling the FiB site anyway, but it should be at www.foreverinblack.com

If you are in the UK check out Net.goth.org they have a regional map of the Uk with links to shops and mail order businesses.

Eight I’m off to see if I can master this picture posting gubbins.

DJ Ghost, I live in Malaysia where the Goth scene is rrrrrrrrreeeeeeeaaaaaaallllllllllyyyyy
rrrreeeeaaaallllllllllllyyyyyyyy dead. I don't listen to Gothic music, I just like the attitude and the fashion it brings. Shopping from the Net is out of the question because I don't have a credit card (besides, I don't trust its safety).
Can anybody tell me what is the difference of punk, ska, gothic, industrial, techno, house music? Thanx.

Hmm, sorry I can’t help, I don’t know of anywhere in Malasia.

I can’t say that I blame you. You may want to look into getting Paypal. Its pretty safe and run by Wells Fargo and company, a lot of places on the net take paypal payments. Alternatively you might try looking for places that have websites but take cheques, its a lot safer sending a cheque or postal order than using a credit card payment. Sorry that's not much help, but its all I can think of just now.

I can give it a go. Punk was a 70s movement based in the disinfestations with the capitalist word order. The archetypal angry young men sort of thing. Much of what gets called punk these days is really toned down stuff. Gothic was a post punk movement that began in the very late 70s/early 80s and brought darker, less political elements to the music. Over the years it drew on a lot of influences from new romantic to industrial to ethereal and now there is a massive variance in Goth music with arty ethereal stuff from bands like The Shroud and Dead Can Dance up to the heavy industrial Goth stuff of bands like Killing Miranda and Projekt. Ska was a fusion of black and white youth music cultures with influences as disparate as Caribbean Reggie and Anglo American rock and roll. Techno and house music are both forms of dance club music that I really don’t know that much about, but I am certain there are people here who do.

DJ Ghost, in your reply, you mention 'ethereal'. Can u explain what it means?

Not easily, its very hard to put in words. Its a sort of gentle, soft, haunting type of music, not a ballad exactly but gentle.

If you have ever seen the Film Gladiator, much of the sound track is ethereal music.

I would recommend Dead can Dance and The Shroud if you want to listen to some and see what I mean.
