  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Industrial Hemp ONLY

OK Everybody. Time to say what you think about industrial hemp (cannabis sativa). What do you think about its legal status in the United States? In other countries, is it developing slowly because claims of its many uses are exaggerated, because it is little known, and/or because regulatory red-tape keeps it from being profitable? Was there any conspiracy leading to its prohibition? If laws should be changed, how can they be? Do you know anything interesting about it? Any other uses? Share what's on your mind. While we can certainly discuss the possible implications of marijuana (one of many strains of cannabis sativa, much the same way a golden retreiver is a breed of dog) in relation to industrial hemp, the all-inclusive cannabis thread is up and running, so please don't turn this thread into an online pot party. I intended the all-inclusive one to include industrial hemp, but people haven't chosen to discuss it there. Anyway, say what's on your mind, and vote!

It's like saying we should only use fermented grain/rice/whatever (alcohol) for industrial purposes. Why should alcohol and cannabis be any different? No reason, other than a really old, outdated, law made in ignorance and/or ego-driven.

Tobacco and alcoholic beverages are heavily taxed by the government. So we know why they are allowed.

If ketchup or cheerios were as detrimental to the public's health as alcohol or cigarettes, they would be pulled and banned by the FCC IMMEDIATELY.

Money talks.
