  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I know as well as you obviously and will assume most other veterans the language and words used by members of the US military but to get one's point across on a different subject, racial slurs doesnt need to be used as a tool to prove that unrelated point.

Dehumanizing the enemy is part of the the process of turning civilians to to soldiers. So the language used in boot camp is pertinent whether obscenity or bigotry. (I am racially mixed myself, and I can't throw a stone at anyone without hitting a family member.)

The real obscenity, however, is the process that turns human beings into soldiers, who will go into a foreign land to kill the natives, simply because they are told to so by some chicken-hearted thief.

To the OP at hand:

As a member of the U.S. Marines, I can tell that recruit training,(boot camp) isn't exactly a walk in the park. I'm not too keen on what the Army does, but I'm sure there are smilarities, though they attend 8 weeks, vice our 12. As for the ideals we are taught...We are taught about customs and courtesies, along with U.S. history and Marine history as well.

We are also taught warfighting tactics. Obviously, a Marine has to know how to fight in a war. Also, we are taught hand to hand combat both armed and unarmed. We are also taugh non-lethal defense as well. We are taught how to fire a rifle and to correct our sight adjustments.

Also, we do allot of physical training. Granted, the minimum score in the Marine Corps isn't the greatest, but our physical fitness requirements still outdo those of the rest of the U.S. armed services. If you'd like to know more, PM me and I'll give you some more information. God bless.
