I'm from Tamil Nadu. I briefly flirted with different religions from Islam to Christianity, but I couldn't find any element of spiritual peace in those religions. So, I am a born again Hindu, but I don't put the symbol in my profile, because I don't feel that I am doing justice to my religion, until I fully live Sanatana Dharma, I won't put the symbol there.

Dear IndianX,
I used to be somewhat like that. I believed with all my heart that Hinduism was the only truth, actually as Hinduism proclaimed, that all paths lead to the same destination. I had even gone against my family in my beliefs because I wanted to follow the true "God" and started following Vaishnavism, which is the largest sect of Hinduism.
But then revelation took place and slowly I started to realize that Hinduism is man made. Please do not stop reading here.

In Hinduism, the followers of Shiva claim that Shiva is the greatest, the almighty "God," the followers of Vishnu claim that Vishnu is the almighty "God," the followers of Rama claim the same for Rama, the followers of Krishna claim the same for Krishna, while at the same time either claiming that others "gods" are not as great as the one that they claim to be "the greatest" or they claim that all gods are the same in their "greatness."

However, this doesn't stop here. About two hundred or so years ago, there was a man, a "guru" that had been "spiritually" named "Swaminarayan." He taught after this that Krishna is "God" and that Krishna must be worshiped and followed. And what happened after this "guru" died? Today there are multi millions of people in the world that believe that this man, Swaminarayan, is the "almighty God" and that Krishna and other gods are created by his power. Okay, so that's that. Then, now--that is today--there is this "Sai Baba" in India that some time ago claimed to be and was claimed by others to be the incarnation of Shiva. Nowadays they--that is, his followers and he himself claim that he is the "almighty God" and that there is none greater than him.

And this has continued and is continuing in Hinduism. People are still creating "gods and goddesses" and worshiping them. And how do they get more people to believe their doctrine? By putting fear in people that they can only go to "Heaven or some place furthermore beyond than Heaven" by following that "god or goddess." And they begin to believe that if they go against all of these teachings, they will surely go to Hell. Examples of this are in the "Hanuman Chalisa, etc."

Another belief of Hindus is that all religions are true and that worshiping any "God" will lead to the same destination or to that "God's" abode. And by this they believe that even Christianity is true. But if it was such, then it would mean that the teachings of Christianity and Hinduism would be able to coexist and not collide. Just look at this basic teaching of these. God in the Holy Bible says that "You shall not worship idols." And what part of Hinduism believes in this? Hinduism is all about idols. This means that if you are a Hindu you can not accept Christianity as real. But then again, if you do believe in Hinduism, if you think about it deeply and sincerely enough, you will come to find out that Hinduism collides and conflicts with itself and that the teachings of Hinduism go against each other and they can not even decide who is the highest, the greatest "God" from all those Hindu gods and goddesses that they follow an believe in. If you look into history of India, before they believed in the impersonal form of "God," Brahm and meditated on him, then they started worshiping Rama, Krishna, etc. and so on and now they have hundreds and hundreds of gods and goddesses.

I hope this helps you. Actually, all you have to do is sincerely ask God, that He reveals Himself to you, that He gives you wisdom and faith and leads you in your life and helps you to follow the truth.

After this, please read the Gospel of John from the New Testament of the Holy Bible and then read the New Testament from the Book of Matthew to the Book of Revelation. If you do not have a Bible, surely you can find it at many if not most, bookstores there, or even on the internet. And let the Lord lead you to salvation. And if possible, try attending a Jesus centered church because it is fellowship that will truly help you to get answers to the direct questions that you want answers to. But mainly, pray to God, read His Word, and you will definitely see the truth, for Jesus said, If you believe, all things are possible.

God bless you.

I don't care what individual people do, what happens between me and God is a matter between me and God, it does not in anyway involve what other people have done. If a religion is defined by what its followers have done, I wouldn't have gone near Christianity or Islam for what they have done to my country. For me, Hinduism is a dharmic path to Brahman, I don't care what others have done or do. It's hard for me, as a person, to accept someone named Jesus or some personal entity like that who casts people into hell. I don't believe in prophets, I can't acknowledge any religion that requires prophets. That's just me and I don't see a reason for me to change my beliefs, even if I go to this so-called Christian hell, I would be glad for it contains people like Gandhi, Swami Vivekananda, Bose, everyone I admire.

I'm sorry. No hard feelings. I didn't mean that you would be following and doing what others do. Just that i have been there, and gave many years of my life to Hinduism, so just trying to be helpful. Of course, there are reasons even in Hinduism itself to not follow the Brahman, because the followers of Brahman claim that Brahman has no name, has no qualities, a person can't talk even about Brahman, and Brahman can't even be described. Then how can you meditate on the void, on something by its own qualities can't even be described, and thus it never had a purpose or way to declare creation, to bring something into being, because when it did do that, since everything is a part of it, it lost a part of itself when that creation was created. So if it did create, then this Brahman isn't what it was before it began creation...

So sorry, i don't mean to be arguing, and i'll stop here. God bless you and lead you to Himself.

I don't understand what you're talking about. How can the infinite suddenly lose something of itself? How can you take away a part of something that has no limit? Yeah, this is not a forum for debating. So, I will conclude here.
