  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Bleechers -

I loved your last post - its the absolute truth! There are way too many bands out there sporting the "Christian label" that probably shouldn't be. It's a trend that has gone out of control in recent years - especially in the music genre that I am particularly fond of - hard rock. Nowadays you can go to a Christian bookstore - pick up a Christian CD (such as POD's latest) and not hear one song that presents a clear cut gospel message of redemption or a song that truly lifts up Jesus.

What really disgusts me as well - is the blind worship that Christian kids give these "Christian" bands. They will defend them to the ends of the earth - simply because they like their music - or because they like the group - not because they are presenting the gospel or the truth.

Let's face it - this whole business is more about making money than sharing truth nowadays. So sad....
Just because they don't say "Jesus is cool" doesn't mean it isn't christian. I would rather hear positive messages than scripture.

I would rather hear "Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life!" Not just "Jesus is cool" - which is what far too many Christian bands are doing these days. Saying "Jesus is cool" means nothing where salvation is concerned. Saying "Jesus died so that you may live, because He loves you" means quite a bit more.

Give me the truth of the gospel (SCRIPTURE) over these lame positive messages any day of the week!

Amen; I agree whole-heartly. I'm not saying that it's bad to have a positive message but they would be more concerned with talking about the gospel.
