I do not know. We are becoming more peaceful.

Sections of the world are getting more peaceful. The Middle East is still as messed up as it has been for the last 4000 years though. I don't see that changing much in the next 20 years. There is plenty of war going on in Africa too. And all it would take for another world war is one crazy man with the bomb.

I guess I'm being too pessimistic tonight. Sorry.

The obliteration of religion and religious belief through increased education.

If you changed that to "organized religion" I'd be with you there. There is nothing inherently wrong with religious beliefs unless they are dogmatic.

It does amaze me that people continue to fight over dirt.

I do not think we will see another world war; at least not militarily. We can not afford to blow up humanity.

His point was succinct. Religion is based on the supernatural.

I don't feel like arguing about it (it's past my bedtime and off-topic) but I don't think that all religious beliefs are bad. It's only when people give their will over to others (like what usually happens in organized religion) that thinks start to go bad.

I think we are talking past one another. Every rational religious belief can be deduced without religion.

Have a good night

I completely disagree. All religious beliefs are harmful to the individual and to the society of which he is a part. The sooner humanity leaves them behind the better off we will all be.

I would further expand that to all irrational beliefs, which include all beliefs in the supernatural which are not expressly religious.

I agree with that statement. People need to stop obsessing over power.

See, I agree with that statement. People need to stop obsessing over power.

These are the words of someone without any.

But seriously, legalizing pot is the right answer. Oh, and getting robots to do all our work.

I don't think you would really have to get rid of religion. I think if we could eliminate the need for people wanting to convert other people to their religion. Or perhaps change the thinking that one particular religion is the "right" one. I believe that would solve some problems.

Hmmm...I think there are a lot of things humanity should strive for like striving for human rights of all people. A lot of problems in the world are due to injustices that are being committed. Punishing government corruption, ect. There's a lot humanity should strive for.

I'd like to see the end of religion, but I doubt that everyone will ever be able to give up the belief in a meaning of life beyond the superficial.

When people become educated enough to thoroughly disbelieve Christianity and Islam, then there will be new religions that are made up to fit our knowledge. And when they are disproven, more will be made up. It's a cycle that's been repeating itself throughout history.
