Human beings are forever looking for answers to things. Sometimes How? Sometimes What? Very often Why? Some look into astrology for their answers. Some look into science for their answers. Some look into themselves for an answer. Others look to religion or a divine source. With each there are searching questions to which we may get an answer and some to which we will never get the answer - not in this life anyway!!
Why does one person suffer and another prosper? Why did my relative die yet a wicked person gets to live? Why do I have food to eat yet millions of innocents are starving each day ? Why was I raped ? Why can he make friends so easily why she is so lonely ? And the beat goes on....
Being a Christian does not provide some readily available answer to these problems as some may think. We do not have access to the universal oracle just because we have accepted God into our life. Often we have our crises and real moments of doubt. This is the real. What happens when it seems you have been praying for ages and can't hear an answer ? How can that person seem so in tune with God? Why does it seem like people at church are doing nothing but binding you in a straitjacket? Lord I am suffering where are you?
Let's be straight there are no simple answers. No A-Z of problem solving but there is hope. The one thing that always remains is HOPE. I cannot live off your experience with God, but it can sure can give me hope, and vice versa. God reveals himself differently to everyone and always, ALWAYS, provides hope. In your journey with him I pray that even these little devotionals can keep that flame of hope alive. I believe that God has placed hope and something special and personal inside each and every one of us. If I was a gambling man I would bet my life on it !!!
Was that too deep? Was it to close to home ? It's not easy, but keep holding on!!! God is not a liar!!
Dear God, sometimes it may seem so dark, so cloudy and we so want an answer. Your mind is not our mind, your ways are not our ways. Help us to be real with each other and ditch the cliche. Help us to dig deep and find that hope that you have placed in each and everyone of us. As we reflect remind us of the good times gone and the good times to come. We pray for those who would seem to have lost hope in you. Help us to be there for them. In Jesus name we claim. Amen
