I was shocked to hear that Vestal Goodman had passed away. It is a huge loss for southern gospel music. She was a great woman of God and she could sang your socks off! I will miss her in southern gospel music greatly!

I had no idea who Vestal Goodman was until yesterday, when I saw it on TV, and today, when I read about her passing in the newspaper. Seems she actually lived in my hometown from 1957 through 1981 and founded a church here. My girlfriend says that either she or her children helped found the church we currently attend.

It's a small world, especially for somebody who apparently lives in a hole like me.

Oh, I loved her! Did you ever see the videos of the Homecoming folks singing children's songs with their children and grandchildren. Vestal was so sweet with her song... I think she was singing "Beautiful Feet" with them. I remember watching some old show on Sunday afternoons with my grandmother that was all gospel people and wondering what in the world a Happy Good Man Family was.... I was pretty little I guess, Grandma had to write it down for me so I could see it was a name not a description... duh.... Yeah, she sure could sing the socks off of anyone!
I see her shadow in Sue Dodge(I think that is her married name, used to be Chenault- not sure of the spelling)... I have loved her since the first time I heard her sing in my home church when she was with the Speers family. So sweet and nice to an awestruck teenager, she can at least sing your shoes off.

I was so shocked when I first heard about her passing. She was an awesome singer and loved God so much you could hear that when she sang. Vestal and Howard Goodman will both surely be missed. I have 2 of the Happy Goodmans cassette tapes and several vcr tapes of The Gaithers tape and Sis Vestal being on there singing and praising the Lord.
