Hi everyone, I have been in a really confused place lately, I simply don't know what to believe regarding creation, evolution, design etc. I have only been a Christian for just over a year and so still regard myself as a new Christian. I almost find myself want someone to tell me what to believe because there are so many people saying so many different conflicting things and I just don't know what's the truth. One general concern I have is if someone asks me what I believe regarding our origins and because I am unsure I will been as a weak Christian and have let the side down, i'm sorry this has turn into a rant I simply feel the need to get some of this off my chest.

adey1986, take some comfort in knowing we've all been there. This is something I went through two or three years ago. I, too, had been raised in my church to believe that if the Bible wasn't scientifically accurate, then the "spiritual truths" about which the Bible speaks must be rejected as well.
But while my faith in a literal Genesis waned, my faith in Christ remained strong. I began reading books like Paradigms on Pilgrimage that slowly began opening my eyes to a new way of looking at the Bible -- to looking at the deeper meaning rather than the simple storytelling. Attending this forum has helped quite a bit as well. There are many TEs here more learned than I on subjects of biblical history and interpretation, many of whom have helped me to shed my old simplistic understanding of the Scriptures, and opening up to me a much richer understanding of the Bible. Now my faith is stronger than ever! Stick around, ask lots of questions, and I think you will find the same.
Welcome to Christianity, and welcome to Christian Forums, adey1986.

Please don't worry about this. It is quite ok to say that Christians have different ideas about origins and you haven't made up your mind yet on the issue. The one thing we all agree on is that ultimately it all comes back to God's desire and power to create the wonderful world we see all about us. You are not letting anybody down if you are not yet sure about the details.

And, as mallon said, take time to study, ask a lot of questions and keep your options open until you feel you have found the place God wants you to be.

Thank you for your kind replys. I really feel that Christianity and the Church is becoming so compartmentalised and divided, it makes it hard to find where the right place and idea to be/have.
The great thing about Christianity is that none of that matters in the end. All that matters is that you trust Christ as your saviour from sin.
