Happy 2006!
If you are like me and most other Believers, you are probably seeking to know God's will for your life and to do what God has called you to do.
Sometimes I wonder how I'm doing. I wonder if He's pleased. But really, we don't need to wonder, because Jesus told us exactly what to do AND how to do it.
Good news, right?! What did He tell us to do? And not just us, but ALL who seek to follow Him and gain eternal life?:
Instead of making things more complicated, Jesus just simplified everything, didn't He?
He said His "yoke" was light and easy and we would find rest. Not in trying to fulfill all those laws (we can't -- He did it FOR us, so we yoke ourselves to His victory), but in simply fulfilling one:
How do you want to be treated? Treat others that way.
That is the Law fulfilled!
Others asked our Lord the same question we ask Him today; what do I have to do? How can I know You, how can I please You, how can I do Your will?:
If we go back to His words in Matthew 7:12, we get an exact, word by word description of HOW to do what He said to do:
"Therefore, whatever you want others to do for you, do also the same for themthis is the Law and the Prophets."
Do unto others as you want them to do to you.
James calls this "the Royal Law":
And even with something so simple, I still often need help, but Jesus helps. All we have to do is ask.
Prayer:
"Father in heaven, please bless me with Your abundant love today and forever, to love others as You love me, to treat others the way I want to be treated, to walk in Your perfect will, in Jesus' name. Thank You, I love You - amen."
Blessings and prosperity to all the saints, in His Holy Name!

When we read "the Law and the Prophets", that is referring to all the hundreds of laws in the Old Testament as well as the words of the Prophets, speaking what God told them to tell the people.Matthew 7:12 (HCSB)
"Therefore, whatever you want others to do for you, do also the same for themthis is the Law and the Prophets."

When we hear the word "love" we immediately think of a feeling, but that isn't what Jesus was talking about.
Matthew 22:34-40 (HCSB)
When the Pharisees heard that He had silenced the Sadducees, they came together in the same place. And one of them, an expert in the law, asked a question to test Him: "Teacher, which commandment in the law is the greatest?"
He said to him, "Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the greatest and most important commandment. The second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself. All the Law and the Prophets depend on these two commandments."
James 2:8 (HCSB)
"If you really carry out the royal law prescribed in Scripture, You shall love your neighbor as yourself..."
