  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I agree... but some issues are hard to explain by the bible. I mean, I believe with all my heart- that the bible has all the answers to life's problems. But, some issues you would really have to twist the Word- to get an answer. Sometimes, it's just easier to use advice, and encouragement- I don't think God has a problem against any of that.

exactly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

that's completely what's been missing.

we should be using the Bible as the basis from which we approach problems/questions. just because it's hard doesn't mean that we shouldn't, because the Bible IS relevant for every aspect of our lives, whether it's obvious or not. besides, if you cannot demonstrate that your ideas have a Biblical basis/justification, then you need to do some rethinking.

I agree, espcially with the morality questions. I think it is always important to return to the bible on a regular basis to make sure that our understanding has not strayed. On a similar note though, I would also suggest that we be careful in discussions (especially heated ones) in the way that we use the bible to support our argument. I believe that we all try very hard to understand what is in the bible, but that we still sometimes interpret it in different ways. For this reason, my suggestion is that if we use bible quotes to support our position, that we also give a brief interpretation of that quote. I say this because I have seen too many threads where one person becomes alienated because they feel that quotes are being thrown in their face. I learned in my english composition class that when using quotes in a paper, they should always be backed up by interpretation, or else they just hang there. So I believe that bible quotes are an excellent way to show your point, but that we should still be careful to explain exactly how we feel they pertain to the situation at hand. When we don't I feel it is possible that people will misunderstand the purpose of the quote. Just my two cents.:)
