What are your thoughts about impartation of spirits?

The Bible tells us to not lay hands suddenly

1Ti 5:22 Lay hands suddenly on no man, neither be partaker of other men's sins: keep thyself pure.

Now this reffers to ordination I am sure but can it also refer to even praying over those who may not be repentant of sin and laying hands on them? Is it possible to be harassed by a demon that was before harassing another person because you had laid hands on them in prayer?

Thanks so much for your thougthful opinions!

Yes, that is why when a person is doing that kind of work, they had better be sure that God put them in that position to do it and not just their own idea. Some people have tried to cast something out of someone and was laghed at and taunted by that spirit. It's nothing to play with.

Plus they have to know the right time to deliver someone too, because delivering someone who's not ready to give their all to God will put them in a worse situation because the Bible says that spirit will return and with 7 times worse spirits, so the person will be worse off. The person has to be delivered when they are ready to give their all to God, don't just go lay your hands on a homeless whino to deliver him if he's not seeking help, he has to want to change so he won't go back to it and end up worse.

That could be why some deliverences and healings takes longer with some people, especially getting loved ones saved, they have to be ready to give their all to God to the point where they won't go back to sin and end up worse. They have to be totally commited to giving their life to God.

don't impart to a baby christian , what he can't handle ...
consider the story of John Mark and his first mission journey with Paul ...
wimped out .... save barnabus restored , discipled , and mentored him
his ministry call could have been lost ...

know those who labor among you ... as with Jimmie Swaggart ,
Tilton , Bakers .... don't empower the weak of spirit

my understanding of the scripture about not laying on hands suddenly is that it is in the context of one who falls, and resoring them to leadership/ministry....that we must wait for fruit before restoring them...

i do not think we have to fear about "catching" something from somebody, like an evil spirit or anything....

i personally feel that when we worry about if we should lay hands on for simple praying or ministry for them is an delusion of the enemy so that we will distance someone we dont know or who is in sin, etc.....

just my thoughts.... Lynne

There is great misunderstanding in the modern church about the teaching regarding "laying on of hands".
Heb 6 1-2 lists it as one of the foundational truths upon which all higher truth is built. Yet how many churches teach it or even know what it is? If you do not know what this teaching is and why it is considered so important, then chances are you will not understand many of the teachings that are based upon this foundational truth.
Laying on of hands is not just the simple act of putting hands on a head. That is just the superficial side. The real power and intent of this is the speaking and imparting of blessings, healing, and Spirit. It is the speaking of words that is the real meat of laying on of hands.
