  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Just wondering if anyone else ever thinks about what heaven might be like and kind of makes plans for stuff they'd like to do when they get there. For example, I have all kinds of ideas for things I'd love to do that would be impossible or too dangerous here but hopefully will be doable there. I find that a lot of my prayer time consists of thinking about ways I want to spend time with Jesus when I can finally sense Him and experience His presence. Anyone else have thoughts like these?

Revelation 21
Then I saw “a new heaven and a new earth,” for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God..."

Many Christians believe that when they die they will "go to heaven" and live there "eternally." But Revelation 21 gives a different account. God created the earth, and placed humankind on it. It was always his intention to have fellowship with us on earth. Even the Lord's prayer asks that "Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven," indicating that the movement is from heaven to earth, not the other way round.

Still, it is fun to wonder what we'll do through eternity. One thing is certain in my mind - that people will be more important that the economy and that we will spend a lot of time building creative and constructive relationships, growing and developing the gifts God has given us. We will have opportunity to develop and use our individual creativity ... however that might display itself - music, art, dance, humour, gaming, whatever... presumably we will eat of the fruit that is provided by the trees mentioned in Rev. 21. There will be no more hunger, so there will be opportunity for those who love cooking to develop all kinds of new food recipes... ;)

2 Corinthians 10:5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

Matthew 6:34 "Take no thought..."
Matthew 6:25

When we use our imaginations to go beyond what is contained in scripture, it tends to lead us away from Truth. It causes us to build something from our own minds that is not a TRUTH from God. It is an idol in our mind, not a truth from God. It is there very thing that happened to Eve in the garden, even though God commanded only, "Thou shalt not eat..." Eve's thought process created in imagination that which she wished to possess...not of God...

Even David believed:
Psalm 27:13 I believe that I shall look upon the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living!

Jesus told us many times and many ways...The Kingdom of Heaven is INSIDE of us...yet we, by our own mind and imaginations look outside for it...building things that are outside of what scripture says...adding to it, if you will.

Luke 17:21 21 Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you.

Matthew 6:27 Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature?

Isaiah 55:8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord.

9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.

John 18:36 Jesus answered, “My kingdom is not of this world. If my kingdom were of this world, my servants would have been fighting, that I might not be delivered over to the Jews. But my kingdom is not from the world.”

When we use our imaginations to picture/create something that is not a truth, that is not a spiritual thing to do...and causes us to believe something that is a lie, not Truth as from God. We tend to try and take a Truth received and build a golden cow or a city out of it...
