  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Ok im really getting annoyed by images autoresizing to fit the screen in internet explorer. Then i have to put my mouse over the image and wait for that button to show up so i can view the actual size of the image. Anyone know how to disable this? Im guessing its in internet options. thanks for the help.

SR:confused:

I'm definitely not a computer guru, but here's where I found it. :)

In IE 6, try Tools/Internet Options, the Advanced tab, about 2/3 of the way down under Multimedia, the second option: Enable Automatic Image Resizing. Uncheck the box to the left of it. IE is the only browser I use and am familiar with; not sure where the option is for other web browsers.

Sometimes it's like the pic is so clear and well defined that when it auto resizes it makes the nice sharp edges even crisper. I think it also depends on what one has for a monitor and graphics card, too. My pathetic lil 8 meg video card and (dare I even admit this?!) eMachines  17 inch monitor can't seem to do justice to some pics when they've been resized. It's hard to explain, but the clarity of some pics become TOO sharp when they get auto resized.

I'm not, but my computer is definitely an antique by today's standards. The ironic thing is I just purchased an older video card (MSI nVidia GeForce 2 MX-400, 32Meg) to go with my even older motherboard (Tyan Trinity AT 100, the S1590 model) which has the VIA Apollo MVP3 chipset - and the new video card and the MVP3 chipset don't play well together at all. In fact, they're in opposite corners of the room right now, taking time-outs for bad behavior. :sigh: The really sad part? I just recited all that technical stuff off the top of my head. ;)

I'm a prime example of why folks purchase from Dell and other places: when one builds and upgrades their computer piece by piece, one should take the time to thoroughly investigate compatibility BEFORE making an upgrade purchase like I did. :D

yeah i wouldnt mind building my own someday, it sure does force you to learn about compatibility issues and just hardware in general. I would like to build one of those cool water cooled systems where i can overclock the c rap out of it hehe, then get the green LEDS in the tubes so it looks like you got green gew flowing through your comp.:)

I agree with you. When I upgrade my lil dinosaur I'll do it by getting the things I want, and before ordering components I'll check for compatibility. ^_^
