'I'm tired of these blatant misrepresentations': Judge blows up at CNN's lead attorney during defamation case and says he owes Navy veteran 'an apology' for calling him a liar

The Florida judge overseeing the high-stakes defamation case between a U.S. Navy veteran and CNN repeatedly lost his patience with lawyers for the parties on Wednesday morning.
Plaintiff Zachary Young, a security contractor who extracted people from Afghanistan, claims a November 2021 segment on “The Lead with Jake Tapper” falsely painted him as an “illegal profiteer” exploiting “desperate Afghans” with “exorbitant” fees amid the fallout of President Joe Biden’s chaotic withdrawal from the country.
“We don’t lawyer like this around here,” Fourteenth Judicial Circuit Court Judge William Henry admonished the attorneys at one point during the seventh day of proceedings during a discovery hearing. “We don’t play the shenanigans anymore in this case.”
Question - David Axelrod? Obama's Senior advisor now CNN's lead counsel - Is there any Democratic operative that CNN does not hire?

All stations should be honest--but CNN has never lost the gigantic lawsuits Fox has.
I get angry when some conservatives root around looking for dirt so they can say, "Look. CNN is bad, too."
When what they find is 1% as consequential or frequent, it doesn't work.
In the little I've seen at Fox, honesty is the exception--not the rule. And finding Jake Tapper is involved in a suit doesn't change that.

No, not the same guy. They just, coincidentally, have the same name and work for the same organization. (the Axelrod you're thinking hosts a tv show on CNN) Blow up the video to full screen and you can see the the guy getting raked over the coals doesn't look like this guy.

Similarly, for the longest time, I thought Jon Favreau, Obama's speechwriter was the same Jon Favreau who made a bunch of Marvel movies.

OTOH, there is only one Kal Penn, who both worked in the White House and starred in Harold and Kumar go to White Castle.

the ire emanating from the judicial perch in Bay County was admittedly reserved for both sides in the ongoing trial

“I’m tired of these blatant misrepresentations that are being made,” Henry said, first shouting, then mocking. “And they’re being made by both of y’all."

CNN settles defamation lawsuit over Afghanistan report

The settlement was announced just four hours after a Florida jury had found the network liable for defamation and awarded Young $5 million for lost business opportunities as well as pain and suffering. The jury also had found Young deserving of punitive damages and was expected to deliver a verdict later Friday on how much the network would have to pay.

5 million for lost business - then punitive to come -

Looks like CNN lost.

Settlements usually are finalized “deals”, the story make it sound as if there’s still jury-involvement (which means there’s still wiggle room, thus “not-yet-a-’deal’.”)
