I think satan is illiterate and doesn't read the bible to much

‘On their hands they will bear You up,
So that You will not strike Your foot against a stone.’”​

7 Jesus said to him, “On the other hand, it is written, ‘You shall not put the Lord your God to the test.’”

8 Again, the devil *took Him to a very high mountain and *showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory; 9 and he said to Him, “All these things I will give You, if You fall down and worship me.” 10 Then Jesus *said to him, “Go, Satan! For it is written, ‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and serve Him only.’” 11 Then the devil *left Him; and behold, angels came and began to minister to Him.

Sounds to me that he reads and quotes scripture quite well.

Satan/Lucifer was a covering angel in heaven. Also, remember the temptation of Jesus whereas Satan attempted to distort the word of God to Jesus by using the word of God .... Satan knows the word of God very very well and twists and distorts it every chance he gets.

Adam and Eve account ... distorted what God had told them .... used Gods words (tempted them) and they did question the truth of what God actually had said to them.

For every truth of Gods word, satan has a lie and many many times his lies are very subtle. His main vehicle is deception (especially for the Christian) and he's very good at it.

"Satan" is actually NOT a proper name, it is a title meaning "the adversary." Any proper adversary needs to be able to think and communicate.

I am sure he has tried at times. Discernment from the Holy Spirit will tell you whether it is God or the devil trying to talk to you.
